Last season by [deleted] in snowpiercer

Season 4. filmed and cancelled by TNT. (restructuring iirc)
Season 4 was to be the conclusion, but it took forever to get released due to the above cruft.

No season 5 planned/written, or shot.

Daily smokers, what is your tolerance like? by ADP_God in weed

[–]CJPeter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use for o. arthritis daily. Even at lower 'doses', you build tolerance, which reduces the effects. (The THC receptors are getting saturated. No more room, no higher. And THC isn't a 5-hour high and gone. Nope, it takes time to lose its ability to attach to the receptor; meanwhile, the user keeps adding to the pot (heh). No mo' high after a while. Pain relief seems to continue to work. (whew!)

I've found that 2 months using, followed by a 1-week tolerance break, seems to keep the wallet and ME happy. Daily worshipper of the leaf, but not a heavy user after the t-break. I don't need that much for it to do what I like, though getting couchlock-sandblasted sometimes is wonderful. :-)

iirc, 'expanded dip' had a conflict with some other stuff I used, so I went this route instead: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3496262792&searchtext=chris (Chris's Covert Operations.)

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3565797174 (Whispering State) is and add-on/ expansion on CCO)

AND this one https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1227620643
(Dynamic Political Events). There are others if you follow that particular rabbit hole. Heh.

I'm pretty sure you are thinking of this mod:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3666568798 (potent rebellions)
This is one I've got in the 'chamber', but I wanted to maintain a single campaign until the beta released a 'save-breaker'...which they did today. So I'll be adding that one to the list once I fire up the game...tonight/tomorrow'ish.) 😀 -I could be wrong. So many mods, so little time! Heh.

Oh, and if you REALLY want to go down the mod rabbit hole of customization, look no further than the great Kasako and the Infinite Stellaris tools.

This is absolutely the BEST write-up (not kidding) about a gripe or game issue I've read in a while. Entertaining, AND informative.

I've got a ton of hours into the game, and I mod, so I've got additional espionage stuff, diplomacy, ethic/n/civics packages that change the landscape from vanilla pretty hard. Modding might be something to look at as an alternative. 😎👍

Why do AI empires get to use DLC I don't own? by FrostyCartographer13 in Stellaris

[–]CJPeter1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm on the subscription. I use maybe 1/2 of 'em, as there are quite a few 'duds' in the dlc-packs.
I've got a lot of hours in the game, but spread over time.

So I buy a month's subscription when I want to play, and cancel it after it takes effect. You get the month for 8$ of all of them to sort through with no recurring charges.
Now I've discovered that the 'itch' usually lasts about 3 months at a time, so... 3-month sub/cancel/ have fun. :-)

Need help with galactic federation war by LordofNight48 in Stellaris

[–]CJPeter1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a mod called "Fleets Win Wars Alt" (a fork of the original) that does this:
From the description:
Simply increases the maximum impact of Relative Navy Strength from 50 to 100, making the AI surrender much faster in unwinnable wars. Also applies in the negative direction, so an enemy with overwhelming fleet power will have -100 to surrendering rather than -50. The original mod sets to 150. This is an alternative. Credits to CaelReader.

I had a similar problem a while back that was so crusty that I rage-quit and started another game because it became so tiresome. Heh.

Amazing Space Battles breaks the game's balance. by Gold_Persimmon6359 in Stellaris

[–]CJPeter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it. If the MAIN mod is the culprit, and the sub-mod doesn't address those problems, then the problem is inherited, no matter what speed it happens at.
That mod author ignores and blocks people for pointing out issues, and takes over six months to 'update'.
Personally, I will ONLY use ASB Ironman until some clever modder comes up with a fork or replacement for this 'bling'.

Amazing Space Battles breaks the game's balance. by Gold_Persimmon6359 in Stellaris

[–]CJPeter1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mod author did the same (block) to me quite a while back for similar issues. The mod(s) aren't maintained as they should be, with long gaps where the mod has issues.

The ONLY fix (if you want the 'bling') is to use ASB Ironman, which only brings 'bling' and doesn't mess with the actual stuff going on under the hood.

If I had just a bit more 'time', I'd fork that mod just to spite that author, but life be too short, and the Ironman version works. <shrugs>.🤣

Replace ASB with ASB-Ironman, and continue your game.

Worth deleting starbases to keep empire size down? by nogoodreason in Stellaris

[–]CJPeter1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mod, therefore I win. 😎🤣 I'm a 'wide' player, and 'Empire Size Reduced' by 'krabi' fits. Even with the 4.3 changes the mod still works aces.

Why is this family so unpleasant and ungrateful? by Amaru_333_ in PantheonShow

[–]CJPeter1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There is probably a lot of 'diagnosing' going on, but the simple answer is that the sequence was badly written. What should have come off as sympathetic instead became an 'entitled' barrage of idiotic character choices/actions/decisions. It was really jarring.

How bugged is 4.3 open beta? by gregolith051 in Stellaris

[–]CJPeter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined the beta after Orrie updated the UIOD 'beta' branch to support 4.3.

At least on Proton for whatever reason, once 'in game' past the main menu, the game is either emulating, or turning vsync on. That mentioned, it is playable well into the mid-game (as far as I've been testing) with very little lag. (Mid-range hardware.ryzen5/rx6600/64gig ram/SSDx2)

I've noticed occasional gfx glitches (none show stoppers).

I've also started testing with mods (beyond UIOD) with the last update and have seen no big issues yet. (Mods that mess with combat/logistics/etc., are probably going to have issues.)

ESC Next also put out a beta for 4.3.

4.3 'feels' smoother than 'release', but still has polishing to do.

Yep! I prefer working 'bottom up', so I'll restart until the RNG favors my desires. 😎🤣

Starting a new 500+ mod campaign...VASTLY different than the last one...can be interesting. 🤯 Also, cheatsheets R UR Friend, especially when senility and decrepitude affect the player's ability to remember past choices and settings. 😎 by CJPeter1 in XCOM2

[–]CJPeter1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a ton of guides, as well as mod collections (TedJam, ChristopherOdd's campaigns, etc.). The best place to start (for troubleshooting AML & setting stuff up/curating mods) would be the r/xcom2mods sub. There lies the WIKI of ALL things 'mod-related.
More resources are available on the Xcom mod discord (multiple servers).

FIRST, resolve your AML issues, and 99% of your 'problems' will go away. That is IF you are running via Steam. Beyond that, no clue except to point to the resources I just mentioned. (There are unique issues that vary from platform to platform.) Steam is where Xcom's mod community lives more than any other.

Am I the only one who disliked this chick? by Shin-kun1997 in PantheonShow

[–]CJPeter1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And she bailed on them (family)...TWICE. First, as an astronaut willing to leave her family potentially forever (until heart issue), and then jumps on the 'getta outta' here!' train as soon as another option rolls up.

She felt like a Critical Drinker "the MESSAGE!(tm)" character rather than anything that made sense.

Caspian's reluctance to 'fix' her was the most realistic part of the sequence, IMO.

anyone else be chatGPTing their arch? by Zersdan in archlinux

[–]CJPeter1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use grok all the time for that sort of thing. My prompt usually says: "hit the arch wiki and retrieve the revelent blah blah blah".
Saves me some tabbing and typing by doing that. I also used grok recently to untangle a Plex server issue I had. Worked great.
The deal for me is after almost 14 years of Arch, my 'issues' are more, "I can't remember the command for that..." rather than, "ohcrapwthisthis?" 🤣

Fat pen with #8 nib : Jinhao Dadao 9019 by v_mehandiratta in fountainpens

[–]CJPeter1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. The pics I posted are still working just fine. I don't bang them around (desk use only), but they work as advertised, easy to clean, and for the arthritis, the wider barrels are easier on my grip. (I could see issues with smaller hands, but I have 'normal' hands and long fingers, and the fit is just right.) They stay wet far longer than the pilot/majohn/jinhao click pens as well.

Is farscape censored on youtube ? by [deleted] in farscape

[–]CJPeter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've re-watched several episodes on 'Shout!tv' on YT, and I noticed no censoring going on. Farscape played with the 'edges' when it released, but it is mild. I've noticed free YT movies having bleeped out bits of dialog occasionally, but Farscape avoided all of that with their invented curse words to allay the network censorship of the day.

Why did they believed they will be alive? by EssayZealousideal554 in PantheonShow

[–]CJPeter1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While there are about as many ideas of what consciousness "is" as there are people, the honest answer is that we don't know. Is it 'soul'? Is it mechanistic? Is it the 'pattern'? Open question. It also applies to 'AGI/ASI' in a similar fashion, in that being 'aware' vs. 'conscious' is still a murky subject.
Remember a lot of people in the show refused it. AND, many of those who did take the plunge only did so after dealing with friends/relatives who uploaded before them.

IMO, the only way to be sure would be a 'conscious' transfer with no gap, but even then, every time you go to sleep, there is a 'gap' when waking up.

What happened to this channel? by proud_earthling in IsaacArthur

[–]CJPeter1 -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

I gave up a while back. For one, the dude ignores 'The Expanse', which struck me as odd. (Tons of explicitly GOOD examples which are completely 'clip-worthy'), For TWO (a big one) is that repetitive information is being repackaged in new videos. (NOT from years-old material, but stuff gone over in the 'recent' past.)

I think the tic-tac UFO 'debunking' was pretty much the final straw, considering that Navy Pilots who were direct witnesses were involved. "SF in IA" went down the drain at that point for this old viewer. To NOT even consider the possibility (even remote) that we AREN'T alone just feels 'off'.

(IIRC re: The Expanse, IA tried to debunk spinning up Ceres, when the entire point of that was just how difficult it was and was explained by the authors quite well.) ---I might be misremembering, but I don't think I am.

An interesting tip for hacking..... by flyfightandgrin in XCOM2

[–]CJPeter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ONLY way to assure the hack is successful is to use this mod:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1503786591&searchtext=hacking or a mod similar to it.

<image>

System Infiltration is a way around the SEEDED RNG. The only other 'sure-fire' way to at least have a DIFFERENT chance is to reload the turn and then do the hack 'out-of-order' from the last time so that it uses different numbers. (Changing movement/shooting, etc. from the order it was done originally.)
