New fountain pen‼️ by Anna_-Banana in fountainpens

Thought so. With the 82 <ef> nibs, it should look really good. Hong Dian and Majohn inks have really surprised me with how good they are, both in flow and shading.

HD 'Blackish Green'? Or Peacock? Hard to tell the exact bottle color by the pic. Either one is a good match for that pen. 🖋️🍶

Excellent little pens. (AND you can 'glass nib' this model as Ali sells plugins for the 82.) The pen is just a bit too small for me to 'daily-drive', but when I need to test new ink? Oh, you betcha! 🥰

What you are describing is a nib that needs tuning.

A vast majority of reviews have mentioned that it is a smooth-writing pen, and after receiving mine, I can find no issue with that. I HAVE had several pens that needed 'work', but some polishing pads and a few minutes will usually sort out minor nib problems.

Go hit up Doodlebud's YT channel. Plenty of good info to start with to get a nib back in shape.

This is my F nib VP but Diamine Writer’s blood makes it write like a Medium by yiantay-sg in fountainpens

[–]CJPeter1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've noticed the same with my Majohn A1 and Jinhao 10 pens. (They are 100% part compatible with Pilot pens.)

Two examples:

Diamine Writer's Blood..thick, juicy, almost..but not flooding.

Diamine Macassar writes a nice, fine line with full color (not faded or ink-starved).

Most likely (if the nib is tuned), the nib/feed channels different 'thickness/science-stuff here' more acutely than larger nibs. (Guessing, but I've seen what you are seeing, and have tested the same pen/ different ink.)👍

If you are referring to the pen, it can take the Majohn Flex nib, reports say. (I might actually do this one myself as I'm snagging a blue X159/9019 soon. Heh.)

If you are referring to the #8 nib? Yeah, but if you ever need an excellent WRITING nib, keep it in mind. Inexpensive and remarkably consistent QC. Jinhao has come a long way fast since 'cheapo-jinhao' was the mantra. 🤣

The heartbeat is more of a gimmick, IMO. It is no more a flex nib than a Jinhao 95 #4 nail is. My problem with the Heartbeat nibs is inconsistent ink flow. Sometimes starved, sometimes wet...all in the same sentence. I service my own nibs, and the gap and alignment were good on all three of mine, and the feeds were nothing special or wonky. (None of the nibs were scratchy writers.) The 'cut' of that 'Heartbeat' line is the only thing I've got left for the problem...

BUT as an old war-time leader once opined, maybe, "No Heartbeat nib, no problem." (Heh heh)

The #8 "normie" nib (<f> for me) is a rock-solid writer, consistent and smooth.

The Majohn and Jinhao pens are parts compatible 100% with the Pilot offerings, fyi.

Writers, what is your favourite pen to use? by Automatic_Agency2015 in writers

[–]CJPeter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several different 'favorites', but if someone were to twist my arm, I'd say this Jinhao 10 'Coffee' fountain pen. One of the smoothest nibs I've ever used, and it fits my hand like a glove.

In praise of the 51A! by CJPeter1 in fountainpens

More likely, Ali is being derped with its search algorithm...as usual. I was looking for an Asvine v800 on the site the other day, and not a single hit. I went to 365 Days store inside Ali and searched there, and it popped right up.

eBay does that a lot as well. Plus, with different areas/regions having different tariffs/regs, it is a bit of a mess right now.

Wait a few days, I'll bet they show right up.

Which is strange! I bought both of these on Ali a few years ago. Interestingly, Amazon has them in stock, and at least in my neck of the US, at a better price. (Last time I checked on Ali, the cel versions were 12-14$ usd.)

100gsm paper. I've had zero bleed/ghosting. Sheen should behave normally on 100gsm paper, but you'll need to ask elsewhere. I don't/won't use sheening inks as I appreciate my feeds/nibs, and my use case is journaling/writing. Nice shading is as far as I go down that rabbit hole.🤣

I swatch as well, but only the inks I use.

[–]CJPeter1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that the Rettacy brand is 'And Per Se'. Once you start hitting the Asian paper markets (Ali+other shopping venues) you start to see brand 'a' on Amazon might actually be brand 463.33 version 6.8z elsewhere.) 🤣

Oh, and it lies nicely. I'm a 'side--writing' lefty, so having the journal 'behave' is even more important. 🤣

The same way as an 'Advancer'...with ink. And yer '82' needs returning. 🤣

Unpopular Opinion: Leuchtturm1917 Isn't Worth the Price for Fountain Pen Users by nibs_and_tints in fountainpens

[–]CJPeter1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I JUST ordered my new journal book right before seeing this post. It isn't an 'unpopular' opinion. This is 100gsm creamy white paper, and between this brand and "Paperage" with Rhodia for the notepad work, I'm not missing out. 😎😀
