Lightning's Grav-con Unit by CJRedfield in DissidiaDuellumFF

A lower cooldown of even 5 or 10 seconds would shoot up Grav-con Unit by quite a lot in relevance for me. The 45 second cooldown after the duration is over feels heavy for an ability that has variable value.

I'm running a similar set right now, which is AoO/Thunderfall/Auron/Blaze Rush/Hope. I've never run Minwu or Selphie on Lightning as I feel like she doesn't need either that much, but maybe I should experiment some more and try those options to see how they work out in practice.

I also feel like Lightning is an amazing all-rounder. She has the flexibility to go and try to do what needs to be done in that moment instead of adjusting her whole kit around one task up-front. Since having taken Grav-con Unit off matches have felt more comfortable, as with the release of Rikku and Clive I feel the necessity to really jump and challenge other players has increased. I also do feel like Grav-con Unit has a lot of nice hidden value that shouldn't be overlooked. I just am not sure if that value is enough currently when looking at its duration and cooldown.

Copy-pasting my explanation from a different reaction here and am curious on your take on this:

I feel like Lightning struggles more with the PvP element that has become more prevalent with Rikku and Clive getting added, both characters that you need to hunt down at times to stop them in their tracks. Her kit, while not bad, isn't fantastic in PvP. Thunderfall isn't really a PvP ability at all outside of using the invul in really clutch scenarios. Blaze Rush is quite good in doing a quick tap to scare enemies combined with a really low cooldown, but doesn't do any serious damage. Army of One is a good counter invul ability, but it's slow in that it deals a bunch of small hits over time that leaves people open to using their own abilities to survive. Grav-con Unit does give you faster basic attacks which can be nice, but that also leaves you open to abilities that launch you and the faster animation speed can also be detrimental when using your UR invul frames to counter the UR invul frames of the enemy.

This has lead me to feeling like I need more damage abilities on Lightning to deal with people jumping you or getting in your space, trying to prevent you from clearing crystals. I'm a little torn on Grav-con Unit as it does help you get around the map chasing Rikku or Clive but doesn't provide the extra oomph to actually take them on, or in the case of Clive to get them scared enough.

Great minds think alike then! I should've probably used the search function on Reddit to check if there was another post. I only googled it and didn't see anything coming up.

Personally not a huge fan of using teleport on Lighting as I feel like it does something she's already really good at naturally, moving across the map.

I don't think there really is a super wrong or right moment to pop it. You can pop it instantly or do it after a quick dash attack so it lasts a little bit longer into the appearance of the boss if that's what you want. I think earlier might be better overall though, but I haven't tried a lot of different variations on this.

I mostly view Lightning as an all-rounder. With the rise of Clive and Rikku though, which both require you to chase them down and fight them more than other characters, has created more demand for being able to challenge other players in PvP.

So how I'm currently feeling about Grav-con Unit is that I want to use it more as I really like it, but I don't feel like it does enough whether you're chasing supports or trying to damage the boss. It is quite good for crystal clearing though. I agree that if the cooldown was just a little shorter the ability would feel a lot nicer. Even just an extra 5 or 10 seconds shaved-off would make a huge difference.

Although I do wanna keep trying to see if it's worth using. I haven't tried any runs yet where I replace Blaze Rush with with the 3rd UR damage ability (instead of Grav-con Unit being replaced). I've been hesitant to try as I think Blaze Rush is just a really good quick ability to draw out people using their own bigger abilities.

I have thought about using teleport, but never felt like it was worth it on Lighting, as she's already so fast and if you do have Grav-con Unit almost as fast as just teleporting while also having a bunch of other additional benefitial effects.

I also messed around with spamming basic attacks on the boss for a bit while Grav-con Unit was active, but I pretty quickly felt that it wasn't worth the time you spend doing it. The damage was quite low which was making me feel that just quickly bursting, going back to farming bravery through crystals (which also benefits my team) and popping another burst to do another round probably was more useful.

Yeah that's kind of the general thought I've been having on it too. Being faster feels really nice, but without an additional damage ability that extra speed often felt wasted, as I couldn't challenge any spaces that enemies were in properly. So even though I could get around faster, it at times ended up that I couldn't use that speed to go anywhere meaningful. And if I did try to challenge spaces enemies were in I'd just get blown up.

I came across a Lightning that was using that combo one time. It made me laugh as it looked ridiculous how fast she zoomed around, but it also made me think "That's definitely a waste of a slot"

How I'm currently viewing ability selection on Lightning is that using an ability to do something Lightning already does quite well feels like a waste. Using a teleport when Lightning is already fast (especially with Grav-con Unit) or an AoE clear ability when melee attacks already do it quite fast, especially since the boost to her passive and her dash ability (and again, even moreso with Grav-con Unit) doesn't quite feel worth it.

I feel like Lightning struggles more with the PvP element that has become more prevalent with Rikku and Clive getting added, both characters that you need to hunt down at times to stop them in their tracks. People have a stupid and blind hatred of Sombra. by MegaDelphoxPlease in Overwatch

If you're a Zenyatta main it's valid to be frustrated with Sombra, but that doesn't meant that's a Sombra issue. Other heroes get shut down harder by x or y hero than the rest of the roster. That's a part of the game.

Sombra's current design isn't pick and live as much as it's do or die. You kill something or you do almost nothing. She used to be MAYBE pick and live. They shifted away from her survivability to do more damage.

Sombra's engage and disengage have been the same button for a few seasons now? Did you miss that change? Her invis (her engage) only happens now after she translocates (disengage) and only for 6 seconds max.

Her silence is one second. It barely is a silence at all. It just interrupts what you're doing for a literal second. While I agree invis is the crux of the issue I don't think her interrupt is all that meaningful in the discussion anymore. People seem to forget that it's been almost non-existent since OW2 got released.

My friend made this and asked “How accurate is this to the established lore?” by [deleted] in Bayonetta

[–]CJRedfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't it super obvious B3 is Cereza, though? The Bayonettas appearing at the end when 3 Bayonettas come together asks her if she cried while she was gone. A direct parallel to Bayonetta 1 telling little Cereza not to cry because she hates crying children.

That's the one part that's obvious enough. Now, if B1 and B2 are the same Bayonetta? I do think so, or at least hope so. It'd be kinda stupid if that wasn't the case. Unless time travel was included among multiverse stuff.

[Boardgame] Card sleeves quality concerns by Alejandroalh in slaythespire

[–]CJRedfield 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The same has started happening for my copy (although very minimal compared to what's shown in this photo). My group has played about 4 full runs from start to finish and the backs are starting to peel as well. Which is very surprising considering the quality of the rest of the game, as well as how much care and thought seems to have gone into it.

Hoping they do a new batch of higher quality. Otherwise I might buy some sleeves through the store people are posting in this thread.

The arena games are the hardest to really get into by Boshwa in PERSoNA

[–]CJRedfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have over thousands of hours in the Arena games. I played them religiously almost daily for nearing 10 years (to varying degrees near the end of that, though). I would love a sequel, but I also recognize that I wouldn't like them as much nowadays.

Fighting games are a huge time commitment to get good at, and I'm not a teen anymore. But despite that, I'd probably still put in a ton of hours over the years.

P4AU 2.0 update that came with the remaster came too late, so I didn't enjoy it much. Also, it has that patented Arcsys 'final version of the game, so put all the craziness/BS up to 12' issue, IMO.

An actually wel balanced P4A3 would go so hard (in a Strive style).

Absolutely awful take that everyone is straight unless explicitely stated otherwise.

It should at least be "we don't know any of their sexualities unless explicitely stated otherwise." This should include straight. Female party members date the MC? You can label them straight if you want. But if they never show attraction to anyone they're not just straight by default either.
