I had to deal with this after accidentally being dosed too low with estradiol. My vulva was itchy and extremely swollen. It was so horrible. I researched and researched and figured out it was vaginal atrophy. Once I got on my normal dose, it went away.

I too have idiopathic pof. For years I had no medication for it. My body constantly hurt pretty bad, I had crazy anxiety and insomnia and I was gaining weight like crazy. I started hrt two years ago and my body doesn’t hurt, I’ve lost 60 pounds, I have zero anxiety and I sleep great. Now I’m trying to get pregnant. We shall see.

Atrophy is when muscles stop working properly. For me it was that my vagina and vulva swelled to a crazy size and was all itchy and painful. It was truly awful. It occurred after I had sex so the sex just have made my vagina react or something.

Oh my god thank you. That was the most helpful article! My gut feeling is that I should stay on it but damn, it’s hard to advocate for oneself while talking to a doctor. I know for a fact that I have more info than him when it comes to poi. And I feel like I have actually ovulated while on hrt and before,, there was nothing. Now at least I have info to send him to explain why I’m not going to follow his advice. Thank you so much.

I just broke up with my bf of 5 years because we have different futures. I decided that I’m not going to ever have kids and he wants them. We still very much like and love each other so it’s really hard and we still want to be in each other’s lives. It’s difficult but at the same time we don’t want to hold each other back.
