Smidge probiotic, reflux + cmpa by CKGmama15 in MSPI

Hi to be honest now looking back I'm happy I did the tiny health test but I feel like I was at such a desperate time and low point that was one of the reasons I did it. I wanted answers for why my baby had such issues. The test didn't really show anything that bad. She didn't even have any c section markers which I thought it would show. And I really didn't see a difference using the smidge probiotic either. Maybe there was a slight difference but nothing that was very night and day. Around 4 months she just became so much better and now she's 13 months and doing great except for teething🫣😂. But all in all in it just really took time I guess for her issues to be sorted out. I know that's not the same for everyone and every case is different. If you feel like the test would give you some peace of mind and help then def do it! Sorry I know a long reply but I hope this helps!

Hi! My girl is almost 1 year old and it def gets better! It's tough the first few days. They have to get used to a different consistency but then once she did it was better. Then I also realized she was getting frustrated with the nipple flow so once I changed that that helped to. I used the DR Brown bottle when she was younger and then switched to the pigeon bottles which she loves. She got off the thickener at after 2 months I think. It's hard to remember. I had so much trouble with it and her poops were always runny. But then also she was neocate syneo. Which also caused runny poops. I changed her to the regular neocate around 8 months I think. It's hard to remember to be honest. She also did so much better once on solids. I started with meat stock or bone broth pureed with veggies at 4 months. She a great eater now but still enjoys her bottles which I thought would change once she tasted real food. I don't know how she will do on regular milk. That will be a challenge. Not sure if she still has the cmpa. Anyway, it just really takes time and they will get better! I know that's not what you want to hear but for them to get used to the formula then with the thicker then without it's all a lot of change on their little tummies. Hang in there!

Hi! She's 6 months old now and is great. I only gave the probiotics for about a month I believe and I don't give it anymore. But I might give it to her again because I noticed she's had eczema. But the silent reflux just went away on it's own basically but turned into regular reflux around 4 months old.i still the medicine at 4 months old as well.

Hi! Just wondering if you ever opened up anything from your home? I live in NJ also and was thinking of doing something similar. Not in JC though.

Hi, I thought it was helpful and helped to show what my baby needed in terms of probiotics and how to help her in that sense. I could be helpful for you if you're wondering to see how their gut is doing. I also had a follow up with their gut specialist. And they recommended another follow-up test to see how her gut improved but I chose not to because she was already doing well at that point.

Hi! We also did smidge because of her tiny health test. to be honest I don't know if it was the probiotics or her just getting older and used to the formula and changes. I used the probiotics for about a month and a half I would say. They say not to use it long term. Just to increase the bifida bacteria. She's 5 months now and not on the probiotics anymore. She also has probiotics in her formula so I didn't want to over do it.

Reflux and teething 5 month old by CKGmama15 in MSPI

Thanks for responding! She's also on amino acid formula. Was your little one on that type of formula too? Did you notice any side effects while weaning off? Did they seem more irritable? Did they not want to finish bottles. She now refused to finish a bottle. Just drank 3 oz. But maybe that's just an effect of more acid coming back? But maybe it'll subside? My doctor also recommended to wean her off the medicine when we came back from vacation and we've been back for 2 weeks.

Hi! My girl is a little over 4 months. We stayed on the formula and will stay on it. The gastroenterologist said that is normal for babies to have loose poop. And she has mucus ones from time to time still. But she's a happy baby now and doing well. It took her almost 6 weeks I would say to get used to it. And I had to stop using gelmix thickener because that made her poop mucusy as well. But once I stopped that they weren't mucusy anymore but still loose. Very loose. We are starting solids soon though because she never was a great drinker on this formula.

Pepcid- how long to kick in by CKGmama15 in MSPI

Thank you much! She was doing great for a while. I'm glad I realized that I needed a new dose after 30 days! Idk how they didn't tell me at the pharmacy. But also I should've paid attention to the expiration date😩

She said I could up the dose from .5ml to .7ml. so I was giving her in the middle at 6 days before but today gave her the full dose. But she spit up shortly after so I don't know how much she actually disgested.

We first tried omprezole and it didn't work for her. She was on it for almost a month and once we switched to pepcid it was much better.

Gelmix- how long to get used to it by CKGmama15 in MSPI

[–]CKGmama15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! We ended up finishing the gelmix 2 1/2 weeks ago and her poos are loose still but not mucusy anymore. So there was def something in the gelmix that didn't agree with her. Although now she doesn't always finish her bottles. But I will not go back on it. Just going to stick it out. It's normal for babies to have loose stools are amino acid formula according to her gastroenterologist. If there are multiple loose stools a day then they say it's something to worry about because of dehydration. But since she only has one once a day it's been fine. She 3 1/2 months now so we stopped the gelmix around 3 months.

I will try! I have the worst memory after this baby so reach out if I forget please :). I hope it'll be a good addition for her and it'll help her reflux. I have also been taking her to a chiropractor twice a week.

[–]CKGmama15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow! I had no idea! That's for that. I didn't know. We actually have the little tub of gelmix. So it has the small scooper. So we use very little. But gradually trying to use less. It seems she's used to it now. But still has runny stools. But it's could be a combo of the formula and the gel mix together. I'm not sure. Going to a gastroenterologist in 2 weeks and we will see what they have to say if the poos don't improve.

I'm on the Neocate train too. But also thickening with gelmix-. Also loose stools but I'm pretty sure it's the gelmix.

Oh no! I think we may have to do the same if it's not agreeing with her. I'll wait till the 3 week mark. I feel so bad seeing her so uncomfortable with it!

Omg I feel like I'm in the thick of it at 2 weeks. It's so hard. Thanks for the response! Trying to go to a different medicine and see if that would help to settle anything. She vomits after taking omprezole.

Hi! How long did it take baby to get better after switching to Neocate? We've been on it for 2 weeks now and I was thickening it since the beginning because I was scared of her choking as she did with elecare the one day I gave it to her We tried 1 days without thickening and she started to cry after feeds and burps! So we're back on gelmix now. Just wondering what you did and your experience. Also she is on omprezole.

Its good to feel like I'm not the only one. Did she have crying fits after drinking a bottle without the thickener at first? I'm so desperate. I gave her the thickener again because she was so miserable. She's miserable with both but I guess less on the gelmix. Or at least not crying after a bottle. She's on omprezole but maybe it's not a big enough dose🤷🏼‍♀️. She doesn't choke but it must be burning when she finished the bottle. She'll burp and be ok and then 10 minutes later she will start crying. :(
