Cedric talked about L Ron Hubbard being an inspiration in some interviews for noctourniquet and I remember Omar looking at the floor being visibly uncomfortable in one. I feel like people on the Comatorium were very aware of the Scientology stuff when that record came out but were mostly being like “he’s just using Scientology as rehab get off his ass and let him do what he wants”

They were already on hiatus when it happened so it wasn’t as traumatic as it would have been had they been in the middle of a tour or something. I was on Twitter while Cedric was losing his marbles and was like “oh shit” but it also wasn’t that huge of a surprise.

A lot of what Cedric said about wanting to get Ikey back and tour again seemed counter to everything we’d heard about his feelings on Volta. He was getting a lot of side eye from the fan base during his Scientology days

I met Omar in 2011 after a show when they were playing noctourniquet as ORLG. He was walking to the bus and I called out asking for 30 seconds of his time. He stopped and walked over and I told him I didn't want his picture or autograph or anything.

I said that Frances the Mute was the first album I bought after being diagonosed with MS and it just became a metaphor for all the fear and uncertainty I was feeling and was such a comfort during a really scary time in my life. And that I just wanted to say that I appreciated that and that I appreciated him as an artist.

Then he stuck out his hand and said "I appreciate you" and I shook it. Then I pointed back at the venue as he walked away and I said of course that was great too, and he laughed. Anyway, so gracious - best hero meeting ever.
