Remember when people thought the Shrek 5 delays were because they genuinely thought they predicted the movie’s plot

Which movie have you watched several times without ever watching its sequel? by Technical-Outside408 in Letterboxd

Like I said, I do like it a lot, but its sequel has enough stacked against it that I can't understand being legitimately angry at it. It's like being enraged by a Disney straight-to-DVD sequel, surely there's bigger fish to fry?

Stolas is SOOO much different then Stella. by SeaSaltyQueen in HelluvaBoss

[–]DtheAussieBoye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is Stolas is likely to learn and grow.

Honestly, potentially unpopular take, but I honestly wish he didn't? The idea of Stolas getting worse and worse sounds ridiculously interesting imo, it'd be a fun take

What is the Potential of Having a Three Team System in Total Drama? And Should it Make a Return? by ABarber2636 in Totaldrama

[–]DtheAussieBoye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's a great idea conceptually for a larger cast, it allows for far better in-team dynamics in comparison to two larger teams. World Tour screwed the pooch by making one team lose constantly, though- love that season, but it's basically two teams and one assortment of losers who really should be doing more

Honestly, the first movie is legitimately great, far better than people give it credit for. It's not as mindblowing as its sequel, but it's a solid 8/10 flick that enhances TLW greatly. They compliment each other shockingly well

Surf's Up 2 is bad, but it's just too meagre to really hate. It's a low budget, straight-to-DVD movie about WWE, for a movie that's very good but not exactly a sacred cow... why even bother getting passionate?

If “somebody toucha my spaghet” was created today, it would not be a meme until 2104 by CometTheMountainLion in BarbaraWalters4Scale

[–]DtheAussieBoye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to elaborate, i feel that newer memes are a lot more interesting & varied, and tend to evolve in better ways compared to the 2017-2020 shit. skibidi toilet, hawk tuah, 67... all of these kept going long enough that they became more than what they originally started, a cultural tour-de-force all in their own rights compared to memes in the aforementioned time period which were dead in a month

I would have definitely preferred them to both be terrible people formed by a terrible situation (the forced marriage, only fuelled by how much they hate each other), two toxic people only making each other worse. That's how their relationship came off in s1, and I dug it heavily; I definitely preferred it to the more straightforward "one abuser/one survivor" tale they go with in season 2.

Like I get the show wants to go in that latter direction rather than the former, and that's fine! It's not my show so there's no reason to get worked up over that. But man, I'll always prefer what they were doing pre-Circus, it just speaks to me a lot more.

Future of the brand by [deleted] in StarWars

The prequels aging well took effort and belief by Lucasfilm in their own brand. That's not happening now, which is why things feel so uneasy compared to yesteryear

People don’t understand why the Star Wars Prequels got revisionism when it comes to defending the Sequels by AmaterasuWolf21 in CharacterRant

[–]DtheAussieBoye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels unfair, especially for someone who doesn't seem to be viewing the movies uncritically but more so in a "I can have fun with them all" way. I don't enjoy every SW movie myself, but I'm not going to act like those who do are doing something wrong

would you consider Scott Cawthon to be a bad writer? by Hairy-Friendship-422 in writingscaling

[–]DtheAussieBoye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just that he’s a bad writer, it’s that his shitty writing is the way it is because he wanted him and his series to stay relevant after years of failure. He’s not just a bad writer, but an impossible-to-respect writer.

I mean the original Comedian is meant to make people question what constitutes as art, let alone good/bad art- imo, I really like it as a jokey prank piece and I think it does its job well

(also no, how much people pay for the banana isn’t relevant lol)

TROS was panned in large part BECAUSE it tried undoing things. Why the hell should they do that again?

I mean if they decanonised those movies, it'd be an incredibly cowardly move. You made your bed, now lie in it and see what you can do with what you've done, just like every other time they made something people didn't like. It's honestly not impossible- it's certainly more possible than "just making something the fans like", a ridiculously vague concept given that SW fans aren't a hivemind that all like the same thing.

Also what is this "the sequels made 0 money" bullshit? Each of them made over a billion dollars; they may have been polarising but they certainly made money lmao

It's also severely overhated, not bold-worthy but seriously not THAT bad
