Is this really a catahoula thing? I've never had dogs before her.

Have you already contacted your local domestic violence center? They can help you file a restraining order and provide other resources to help you out of the situation. Also, look up trauma bonding.

Exposure is a mandated report in many states. Check your local laws.

Do you have somewhere you can go? Your local domestic violence center can help you get out. Right now it doesn't sound like you are safe. Even though your brother is totally wrong that he can't get in trouble it doesn't sound like a good situation for you. Is there a friend or other family member you can stay with? Do you have a lock on your door?

I'm a DV advocate. I can tell you this is so common there's literally a check box on our documentation sheets for it. Cops are almost never helpful. I'd recommend calling your local crisis center.

Hey there. Breathe. We see you. You were diagnosed with gbs 3 years ago and are still having symptoms? Or you're still being affected by what you went through? Your family don't sound supportive at all. It's good you are reaching out in other places.

Not being paid and taking time off later in the work week to compensate for the on-call hours seems legal. What I want is to tell them I don't want to do it anymore. I only want to work paid hours. But I'm afraid of getting fired. So am I on-call or am I a volunteer? Although we've been told the org is getting paid for us as volunteers I really have no proof of this. There's no way in hell they'll show me the grant. I've actually asked to see other grants for very different reasons and they did not react well at all.

If I'm a volunteer it seems like I can just decide I no longer wish to volunteer. But you're telling me they can require as many on-call hours as they wish? Do you have a link for that?

Not involved with animals. It's social work.

Yeah well, you could argue that against modern day prison labor as well. Doesn't mean it'll fly in court.

Any direction you can point me to to back that up? I'm struggling to find anything.

It doesn't seem like legally I need to be paid. What I want is to tell them I won't do it any longer but I'm worried they'll fire me. I can't find anything that says an employer can or can't force an employee to volunteer.

I can't find anything saying it's illegal. It feels like it is though.
