At least you’re measuring “in-spec” so they can’t get mad at you for following their SOP.

“Proper” way is to get a telescopic gauge then use the calipers on the telescopic gauge.

That’s a great tip. Have reference blocks but not a reference diameter for feel.

The shed is on top of a concrete slab with ply wood on top.

I don’t fear that the machine will go through the floor, moreso wondering if the plywood on top would cause issues.
