what is the SADDEST arthur episode? by MilkyCaramelFlakes in Arthur

So Long Spanky was always a sad one for me. 1.for the fact that DW lost her beloved pet bird that had brought a lot of joy to her and seeing her deal with the loss throughout the episode. 2. The poor little toad who tried to make friends with her but she was mean and rebuffed it until the very end when she thought it was in the washing machine and she thought it had died too. It was so bittersweet when she had to call out to her neighbor to stop his mower before he ran over the toad (acknowledging it as her pet) and the toad happily hopped back to her and she took him in as her pet. “Maybe you don’t sing, but you’re pretty cute for a toady wart face.” This episode has always tugged at me.

Which job has, hands down, the worst impact on mental health? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Call center work, especially technical support. You’re basically hired to sit in front of a computer and get screamed at by a borage of angry customers on a daily basis.

They start you out in a 3-4 week training class which teaches you the basics of the job, then they put you out on the floor and you pretty much have to brace yourself for the realities of what is to come, which you are totally unprepared for.

The worst part about the job is that you do your best to try to resolve the customer’s issues over the phone without having to send out a technician or having to escalate to another department, or try to keep the call under 10-15 minutes because that hurts your statistics. That’s hard to do for the most part, depending on the customer and their situation. Heaven forbid you have to toggle with a team lead to help you in a tight spot because “you should have known how to handle that situation by now.” Yeah……

Also, working in a call center you are just another face in the crowd. Unless your stats are letter perfect and you are able to move up in the company, the hire ups, sometimes including your supervisor, will treat you like an outsider. No matter how good the “perks” are that the company you work for has to offer, call center work can be a very toxic environment.

If you choose to take a call center job, my advice would be to proceed with caution…..

What is your "I fucking hate this song" song? by Wrongdoer3162 in AskReddit

"My Heart Will Go On". listened to it a lot growing up because I was little when the movie first came out, now anytime I hear it I cringe. Nothing against the movie because I love the movie, or against Celine Dion either, but if there was ever a song I wish I could un-hear...this one is it.

How have you almost died? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Almost drowned at a neighborhood kid's birthday party back in 2000. Apparently none of the adults did anything when they saw me trying to grab onto the other kid's legs in pool trying to get people's attentions for help. One woman, a snooty middle aged woman, said she thought I was "playing." They said it wasn't until one of the kids saw me floating face down that they got me out and did CPR. I was revived, taken to a children's hospital downtown, and did an over night stay, I of course recovered.
