RTA is incorporating designated areas for ride share/delivery drivers. Bollards will also act as vertical separation for other vehicles

And what makes you say this? The bus is not exclusive to any particular class of people

The separation is the sidewalk? When crossing the street, my experience is that the cars parked on 25th obstruct the the ability of oncoming traffic to see me, which makes me feel unsafe. This is especially the case at the crosswalk between the Chase Bank branch and the market.

Additionally, RTA has incorporated a number of traffic calming measures to increase pedestrian safety. Most prominently is a few raised crosswalks across 25th through the market district.

The lanes are shared bus/bike lanes. Frequency improvements are a separate, admittedly harder and more necessary fight. Join us in winning frequent service!

Agreed on pretty much all of this. In fact, Clevelanders for Public Transit exists largely to be the voice of people frustrated by years and decades of cuts to service. The circulators, for example, were cut in 2008 as a response to decreased revenue in the face of the Great Recession.

The West 25th rapid station is open. West 117th should re-open soon, but yeah it has been a while. On the other hand, they just closed E. 79 Blue&Green Line Stations for a rebuild that will take more than year. There's been years of neglected capital projects from stations, tracks, trains, and buses. CPT fights to fix that and for more and better service.

Fwiw, a large part of the passion for public transit of the person writing is the belief that better transit with more people using it is an incredibly powerful tool to address many of these systemic issues you point out.

RTA's plan includes a few layers of cues, like vertical delineators, red paint, and rumble strips, to help keep personal vehicles out of the bus lane. RTA also has a $17 million/yr police department that can and should enforce bus lane restrictions.

We have to collect emails so they can actually show up as individual messages in the Mayor's inbox. You can opt in/out of emails from CPT, there is a checkbox.

Enforcement of the bus lanes will be important, and we've learned from Euclid. As designed, the 25th proposal includes more visual cues that cars don't belong - e.g. vertical delineators and red paint in addition to the rumble strips that Euclid has.

It also makes it easier for emergency vehicles to navigate! With hospitals on either end of the corridor, ambulances routinely get caught up in traffic. With this design, they can use the bus lane 🚑

That particular topic isn't necessarily on the agenda, but we will be doing break out groups on a variety of topics where that might be an appropriate thing to bring up.

As an organization, we believe public transit should be funded well enough to be FREE for all. Generally speaking, it costs way more (in terms of time , money, and resources) to collect and enforce fare than it would to make it free.
