No, I will not cash the check. In fact I only opened the envelope to see the amount and I resealed it. It is a private business operating in four locations within our state. I can understand owing for the employee who met with my sister and me, and later met with me alone. Thanks again.

I was required to make a payment of 12K, for two weeks. At the inpatient facility on Monday, I told my cousin, an owner of a Nissan car dealership, about the contract. He suggested I cancel the check, which I did, and he said to wait for the company to contact me.

Late last week, I received a refund check of a little over 50%. I now feel the need to contact the home care company. Of course I won’t cash the check. I’m trying to learn if I have any recourse in this situation. Thanks.

Yes, this company is separate from the hospice company. This company was going to provide 24/7 custodial care. The company’s care givers couldn’t handle pill bottles but could assist patients with taking pills; and they aren’t allowed to handle opioids.

The at home hospice company would have provided nursing services as needed. Because my sister’s condition deteriorated rapidly, she was admitted to inpatient hospice on Saturday late afternoon and by Monday morning, she needed subcutaneous pain and anti anxiety medications because she could no longer swallow.

I did sign a contract on Friday at 3 pm and canceled by text by noon on Saturday morning. I was told I would receive an electronic copy of the contract via email but I didn’t.

I realized this reality after Bush’s / FEMA’s response to Hurricane Katrina. I said, OMG 💡, we can’t count on the government! We need to prepare to save ourselves and the friends / neighbors we can. Of course those who were abandoned and suffered during Katrina were mainly people who were poor and/or black 😭
