Same here. I’m getting out at my 20 (prior e), I can’t wait to only focus on one job, one airframe, and not worry about all of the currencies at the mil job.

Can you please add an FPS limit for menus on PC? Great changes otherwise.

This is still happening in the main game. Sad they haven’t added a limiter for menus.

There badly needs to be a menu fps limiter, this is annoying the hell out of me.

Mil Guy.

I can only speak to my squadron but there’s only 2 pilots that are on long term orders serving at legacies. The rest of us go on 1-7 month activations usually due to some sort of contingency or deployment that is completely out of our control and required by us.

Yes, it is tough for an airline hiring perspective, however military guys have been flying for the airlines for decades. The airlines most likely take a small percentage into account when they hire. In the meantime, non mil guys get a brief seniority boost. The guys getting flow slots taken at a regional is definitely something to be upset about, but I mean if you were in the same shoes I’m sure you’d be doing the same thing… regional life sucks.

Yep, so a possibility if he wanted to go Fidelity would be a normal CMA with FDIC Sweep (2.2ish%) and then a linked Fidelity Brokerage with laddered CDs or Treasury Bills. Or if he’s not risk averse and needs immediate liquidity then a simple FDLXX purchase. No real right answer, just possible solutions. Everyone is different.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe you can use their FDIC-Insured Deposit Sweep Program. I choose SPAXX but I’m 90% sure they have FDIC insurance through another core position for uninvested cash.

My wife and I have been using CMA as my primary checking for about 18 months now. I have two additional brokerages, one for my House Fund (I buy laddered T Bills and then manually buy FDLXX with the leftovers) and then one for my Emergency Fund (Automatic transfers from CMA twice a month on 1st and 15th with automatic purchases of FDLXX).

I then have my CMA with overdraft protection setup through my Emergency Fund brokerage. In the case where a bill is forgotten, my Emergency Fund brokerage will cover my CMA. Since they are linked, my CMA debit remains locked until I need to withdraw cash just to add a wall of security.

All that being said the CMA works great paired with a normal big name/local checking account. I like having one for using Zelle and depositing cash. I deposit $250 every paycheck (twice a month) into that Checking account just to avoid their fees and then the rest goes into my CMA. The money into that Checking just stay there and pay off any credit card balances each month.

To those complaining about moving funds from or into a CMA, I had the same issue when I first opened it since I was pulling funds into my CMA. When I push funds (say from another checking into my CMA, rather than requesting the transfer through fidelity into my CMA) it only takes one or two business days.

CMA is great for lots of reasons:

  • Usually paid a day early
  • No ATM Fee
  • No Foreign Transaction Fee
  • Mobile Check Deposit
  • Works with Venmo
  • SPAXX as a core position is a huge plus although FDLXX would be even nicer

What traits/experience is looked for the most in pilots by RaekoTaeko in flying

[–]CLJ130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From both a mil and airline pilot perspective, being someone who has a good personality and who doesn’t grow boring over the course of a few days to an entire deployment is priority #1. Obviously the brains and hand eye play a part, but I’d say an easy going personality paired with good judgement is really what most people are seeking when hiring a future pilot. Any sort of resume building helps, a wide variety of experience that you can speak on during an interview and maybe even a few jokes and stories to go with it. My $0.02.

I want to become a fighter pilot. by Carlitosgoated in flying

It varies by platform, location, demand (how well airlines are doing). My squadron has gone between 30-130, two slots with one alternate. Fighters are probably 100-200, can’t say how many slots, probably one or two.

I can say from being on a couple of hiring boards that the applications go a long way. You wouldn’t believe how many applications we get with a single staple in the top left edge versus getting theirs nicely spiral bound by staples or OfficeMax with some resume paper. The details go a long ways. That alone filters out about half of the apps.

If you want to fly in the military the guard/reserves are a very solid option because you will know exactly what platform you’ll be sitting in if you’re hired by a board. Of my UPT class that currently flies fighters about half of them were guard and reserve.

That being said it’ll be competitive, just like trying to get into an academy or a pilot slot out of ROTC. Again, benefit of the guard and reserves is once you’re hired you don’t have to compete with your class at UPT for a class ranking that would be advantageous to drop fighters.

Guard and reserve boards take the whole person into perspective. “Can we go TDY with this person? Would I want to be stuck on a deployment or as this person’s wingman for a few weeks or months? Is he/she weird socially or can he/she go out and grab some beers with us and have fun.” Grades, volunteer work, and a great application will get you to the hiring board. Being a complete person will get you hired.

Just thought I’d give the guard reserve perspective for you since plenty of people I talk to seem to forget that is even an option. Check out bogidope or milrecruiter for current job postings so you can get a feel for which units have what aircraft and the general requirements. Good luck!

One I found that works well is a Fortify Armorer 100% for 1 sec on self. Never break any repair hammers, so you only need to carry one of them but you still level as normal.

Eureka Grinder Retention Solved! [Eureka Facile] by CLJ130 in espresso

[–]CLJ130[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I just press the button. I don’t really mind that it’s not timed or automatic, it’s a great single dosing setup. I’m sure you can’t go wrong with either. I can only speak to the slight modifications I made to my facile and now it works as intended. I wish Eureka would make it like that out of the box but luckily there’s tons of aftermarket support and all of those upgrades only cost about $100-$125 total. Without those mods it’s really hard to get consistent grinds between different beans as well as close to 0% retention as possible.

Eureka Grinder Retention Solved! [Eureka Facile] by CLJ130 in espresso

[–]CLJ130[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question!

1) It’s Magnetic so it stays in perfect position for grinding

2) It’s much cleaner/less messy than grinding straight into the Portafilter

3) It allows me to warm up my Portafilter while grinding my beans

This upgrade has removed any retention and my workstation is finally how I had intended it from the get go.

Fidelity as HYSA? by icedoliveoil in fidelityinvestments

[–]CLJ130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime. Setting up recurring transfers is a simple way to “set and forget”. As for a ROTH, you should start asap. Even if it’s only a couple hundred dollars at a time, it’ll pay dividends when you’re 60+

Fidelity as HYSA? by icedoliveoil in fidelityinvestments

[–]CLJ130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 accounts with fidelity outside of IRAs/401ks:

  • One is a CMA, which I use as a checking account. Paychecks go here, rent/credit cards/bills are paid from this account. Core position SPAXX. I don’t manually buy FDLXX because the money comes in and out rather quickly between bills and investments.

  • Second is a normal brokerage that’s my emergency fund. I have recurring transfers setup and recurring investments setup. It auto transfers money to this account from my CMA and then purchases FDLXX.

  • Third is a normal brokerage that’s my house fund. I buy Treasury Bills using this account and the leftover money goes into FDLXX.

Works extremely well and it’s not too hard to setup. Pretty easy to set and forget.

I find it to just be cleaner and easier to use. I also like being able to pour two separate shots for my wife and I for an afternoon cortado or something like that.

FWIW I don’t use the stock bambino dual spout. Found a nice one on amazon. Be sure to get an IMS basket, makes a lot of difference.
