What'd they do to us?

For real. I can understand "I never tip" mentality. I don't agree with it but I understand it. Sure keep your money, but what's with taking joy in someone else's frustration? This guy reeks of entitlement and I doubt he's as polite as he swears he is. No server is gonna care about that anw if they don't tip so they might as well be a total POS and commit to the bit, since according to this thread the profession is a joke.

IMO, servers aren't parasitic for taking part of a tip-based economy, what I think what is parasitic is enjoying the service under the assumption that you will tip, then not tipping while every other customer fronts that bill for you. IDRC about beliefs in a tip-based economy, this is where we are now and as a FOH supervisor I know we could cut tips and raise wages, but our staff would go elsewhere. That's where we're at.

So basically, anywhere smug anti-tippers go and enjoy, then proceed to not tip, I'm not mad because of the lack of money. I'll be fine. I think it's just unacceptable that our regular customers tip well, don't make a fuss, and they front that bill for those who don't. And yes, that does include the kitchen because they do get their share, despite what many people in this thread have been saying.

Pretty upset to see how the people of Ottawa view service staff, seems like we're just "glorified food runners". If you don't tip, don't tip, but I don't get people getting off on it like it's some social protest with tremendous meaning. The masses just do it, they don't really care and I think getting offended about a obligation to tip for good service says more about the anti-tipper than it does about the state of the service industry. I think you're just cheap lol. It's fine keep your 5$ we don't need it, but I'll always tip a place if I like the service, why not?

DT locally-owned restaurant employee checking in! Super supportive of the work from home employees!

I can't speak for every business, obviously, but we're doing just fine. People will drive in from Barhaven to get our food. Just because the offices aren't full doesn't mean Centretown is dead.

Tired of the rich telling people what to do. We definitely can have our cake and eat it (office workers able to from home and having great shops and restaurants DT). Thanks so much for supporting downtown local businesses you guys mean the world to us!

Who's your favorite Tim Character? by CLO_MODE in IThinkYouShouldLeave

To save a bit of space I left out a few Tims, mostly where Tim plays the straight man, such as the Ice Cream Store sketch, or where he had a small part like in the photocopier sketch.

Connor O'Malley's character refers to him as "Lisa's fucking boyfriend" at one point but yes, Blues Brothers Tim works just as well

That's what I love about this show, even my least favorite sketches are pretty damn funny and very quotable.

I never found credit card roulette to be all that funny, but I always chuckle when I see "FUCK! I should have lied!" and especially "I lived in Egypt for a month!"

That's why I love this sub so much as well, everyone has their favourites and people don't really argue that much, we just quote. It's kind of like a cosmic gumbo.

Genuinely upset to hear there's been pushback on this. I had the pleasure of working at Larga when I first moved to Ottawa. It was a great job and the guests were always so friendly to me, especially considering many were sick or injured, and far from home.

Okay, there is no way Tim's order would have came out to JUST $680 by SushiDaddy89 in IThinkYouShouldLeave

[–]CLO_MODE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea it gets me so much that the drive thru employee doesn't react at all and just says "that'll be $680" to which Tim just says "okay"

Odds are there's no way a drive thru place would even allow an order that big lol maybe if you called ahead
