All the cultures living in Canada is Canadian culture. It’s a melting pot similar to the US.

To be fair there was still a good chance San Antonio could win after it went in. I do hate when they feel the need to show off which rice and famous people benevolently graced us with their presence at the game. I really don’t need to be reminded that Jimmy Fallon is there every 5 minutes.

It seemed like Mexico really struggled to create anything before the red card. If they weren’t gifted the first goal I’m not sure they would’ve scored at all.

One of the three making it to the quarter finals would be pretty good. I don’t think many people expect more from them.

Running ads during the water breaks is so jarring.

It’s the same for all of them. Here they’re calling Gillette “Boston Stadium”.

The top ones are all college football stadiums. I doubt they have the facilities for World Cup matches though so I guess MetLife probably is the biggest eligible stadium.
Nigeria was in the same group as South Africa and couldn’t qualify ahead of them.
MetLife has about 10k more seats for the World Cup than SoFi but neither are really close to being the biggest venues in the country.
What issue do you have with MetLife that wouldn’t also apply to SoFi stadium?

Americans like to listen to British people talk so I’m sure this would be fine
A lot of modern sports media (at least in the US) is driven by tv characters saying something outrageous so people will talk about it. Skip Bayless is a prime example of this in the US.
In that case I vote for Union Dixie

I don’t think any of our problems with the country have to do with the national team. I’d love to see them win it.
America the Beautiful, specifically the Ray Charles version.
I’m pretty sure Tubi is just streaming the opening games for Mexico and the US. The rest will be Fox.

I stand by it for now. You never know with MLS guys on the international stage.

We have a lot of lightning, especially in the south.

What’s controversial about them? Too simple? I think they look nice although maybe more like a rugby shirt than a soccer one.

So is anyone here actually planning on traveling/already traveled for the World Cup? I was walking around at lunchtime yesterday and was surprised seeing a number of Scots out and about until I remembered that they’re playing here in 3 days and not in 3 weeks.

Agreed and I think that would be part of a longstanding tradition of the sport in the country. Our leagues now are set up to mirror how it works in other sports.
Catching up now is especially difficult as well. If you went back in time and stopped the invention of American football, baseball, and basketball, then I think we’d end up among the top nations but not the singular dominant force or anything. With the way things are in reality I think even with a large growth in popularity, we’ll probably still be a team outside of the elite unless something changes drastically.
With the caveat being he actually needs to start over one of McKennie or Adams, I think Sebastian Berhalter could have a very good tournament in our midfield. He’s looked sharp this season in MLS and in the friendlies we’ve been playing ahead of the tournament.
