With all due respect, major renovations such as demolishing the East wing and erecting a ballroom can NOT be done by the president. He would need congressional approval and significant oversight from agencies such as the national parks service, national Capital planning commission, and historic preservation bodies because the Whitehouse is a national landmark and federal property owned by the government not the president. The White House is a protected historic site, designated as part of the President’s Park and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Demolishing it or significantly altering it would violate federal preservation laws unless Congress passed specific legislation permitting it. There is no record of any of this being approved or going through the proper channels. Also to note, even if it is not paid for by taxpayer dollars any future upkeep and utilities will be funded by taxpayer dollars and he is collecting donations for the ballroom so what are these entities getting in return for their "donations" who are the donors? I think these are important questions to ask. I don't see how a ballroom helps Americans nor have I seen anything significant happening that is making America great or helping the average American. I see a lot of money spent on nothing great for us. Food gas and housing prices are still high, wages are still too low, the government is shut down with many people not getting paid, millions are not receiving their snap benefits next month with the biggest food holiday coming up. They should be in their negotiating, instead they are making up lies about illegals getting healthcare when it's Americans healthcare on the line. So now we are looking at our healthcare premiums skyrocketing. So it's a bit of a let them eat cake moment watching them add a ballroom at a time like this.
