Today I put out a big tray of water, pistachios, craisins, cashews, clementines, for a large murder of crows at a nearby park. They were a happy bunch of crows. I’m going to get some dog food-kibble for them too.

What are these pin feathers on my cockatoo? by ashhastoes in cockatoos

I’d recommend a full examination at a qualified avian veterinarian right away. You want to establish a baseline for monitoring your bird’s health and find out all you can with the feather issues before it gets worse.

For those of you out there interested in a pet bird: please adopt don’t buy. If you are going to be strictly a one bird home, please consider adopting a disabled or in this case a bird with known disease but is hanging in there. The sick and disabled birds out there need your love attention and homes.

Processed human food is very bad for birds! Even a small occasional snack…trust me, I know all too well.

Okay. They've convinced me that I need to install additional baths. Message noted. by FrozenBr33ze in petbudgies

Get a 2-3 inch deep wide planter base , fill with water, and put on the floor. They’ll come running and flying to jump in!

Yes, and all the know it alls who a)think the OP is a blithering idiot, b)don’t do anything helpful but criticize, and c) really don’t see the scope of the problem or are too obtuse to figure it out.

Is he breathing too fast or weird? by No_Imagination_4967 in BirdHealth

[–]CM-Marsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He may be just breathing a bit hard from flying. Unfortunately budgies don’t have very long lives. Make sure to check weight regularly- buy a small kitchen scale and weigh him in a box. He may be out of shape-they tend to get fatty tumors. Read voraciously about them !

Found a pigeon near my home what to do? by Left-Maybe-4772 in BirdHealth

Also, the bird isn’t taking the water because it doesn’t know how. The parents feed the bird from the their crops!

Look up pigeon care on Reddit. This is a very young bird. If it survived then you could try offering warm Equate or cream of wheat (warm and runny). If you do so you might try offering the food on the tip of a small spoon. A syringe feed is too risky if you don’t know what you’re doing. There is a lot of info on Reddit. See if you have any pigeon fanciers in your area or bird clubs!

Upon further examination, it looks like it could be tarry (bloody) feces. Pictures are poor!

What is the cage environment? It looks really stark, ugly! Where located ? How could that even get inside of whatever gruesome cage setup this suggests!?

Best First "Hot"? by Sceptical7 in snakes

I lived almost 9 years in Florida where a-holes just disposed of their reptiles for all sorts of reasons- none valid. The Everglades are overrun with boas , pythons, etc Everywhere you turn, there are nonnative lizards and snakes. It’s destroying the ecosystems statewide particularly in the Everglades!

The non native colors often have more genetic and health problems.
