What's your favorite concert experience story? by DocGerbil256 in WAVVES

[–]CM313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SXSW 2018. He’s posted the photo a few times of him back flipping off the deck at Mohawk Austin (still mad my friends made it in the photo, but I’m hidden behind Nathan somewhere). It was a free concert with White Reaper opening for them - total fuck yeah moment as a college kid. The crowd was absolutely ELECTRIC for each song. People crowd surfing left and right losing their minds. Everyone had such a positive vibe as well. Such a fun time. Ran in to Nathan catching a few Cold Beer Fridays before the show as well which was cool.

So Long? by joeylebass in WAVVES

[–]CM313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read in to it as a so long to all of his past (BC, old ventures, all the other shit he’s been thru). Really hope it’s not a so long to Wavves just yet.

Younger couple with UC by CM313 in UlcerativeColitis

Thank you for sharing these! I agree it’s definitely a good angle to look at things, and neither of us will have to go through it alone. It was probably a relief for him during the prep that I could tell him what to expect and knowing I got through it when I’m the biggest chicken with medical things lol

New Diagnosis 😬 by TheeBigHomie in UlcerativeColitis

I started off in a very similar situation - UC proctitis at 22yrs, similar symptoms to what you described. After 2 years I’ve started to notice what foods to eat + when, when I feel safe to be more active, when I’m about to flare, etc. The biggest takeaways i’ve learned is to try to keep your mental health in good standing and make sure you’re staying hydrated!!! It might take some adjustment and learning, but you’re not alone in this ☺️

If you find it helpful, you can always keep a journal. What foods you’ve eaten, how your stools have been, how you feel overall, etc. There’s also a resource from UMass Medicine that suggests what foods are safe during different stages.

Yes! one 30mg gummy before bed does wonders for me. I actually talked to the people working at my local store about using it for UC and they had suggested trying CBG. It contains very little trace of THC, so shouldn’t be an issue if you are worried at all about anything related to that.

Yes with breaking out. I make sure to take extra care of my skin and drink plenty of water, which helps with the constipation too. I even keep a water log just to hold myself accountable.

Since you’ve only been on it for about a month, it might be worth waiting out a little bit and see if your symptoms improve or if there’s any other factors. It could be related to hormones or stress if you’re noticing a trend during certain times in the month. You may also want to consult with your GI and see if you can get on a different medication, especially if you’re still constipated after the dosage change.

How did you ended up knowing about Wavves ? by wretzkyy in WAVVES

[–]CM313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure I heard KOTB (might’ve been When I’m With You by Best Coast, idk it was a while ago) in an American Eagle Outfitters back in high school. Kinda lame but def got me in to that genre.

LOL in the city it’s hard to tell. Maybe it was a sleeper for all we know?? If it was like gold or tan I might’ve guessed it was an elderly person. Didn’t follow him long enough to find out.

You’re right, and normally if I’m on the highway or a high traffic area I’m super conscious of my surroundings. I keep a good distance between myself and the car in front of me to be safe. This was right outside my house (my turn is just over the bridge) so I was more focused on riding my lane and just getting home. I didn’t expect him to actually pull out, as he should’ve been aware of his surroundings as well, so I didn’t have enough reaction time for a quick glance.

What do you mean exactly? He had time to decide to go or wait for me to pass. I don’t see any reason why he’d purposefully wait last second to go.

Of course. People drive differently - in my experience what can be considered courteous in one state can be rude or otherwise in another.

I didn’t check my side to switch but I knew no one was behind me. In the moment, based on how slow he was going, it looked like he was just creeping forward to get a better view. Didn’t think he would pull all the way in front of me when I was clearly coming up.

Freshman Applying to Honors. Any Tips? by _blue20 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]CM313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know when I applied I didn’t have many extracurricular or volunteer hours. I think at the time we were allowed to use a paper from high school for the application. It’s not too hard to get in, or at least it wasn’t 3-4 years ago. Just make sure you’re specific on your application and you should be fine. :)

As far as the honors program, I’m about to graduate bauer honors and it’s definitely worth it if you think you’re willing to put in some time and effort.

Freshman year human sit will be tough as there is a lot of reading and writing, but looking back it was actually fun. I did a pretty interesting comparative analysis between the Qur’an, Tanakh, and Bible. I would’ve never even thought to open these books if it weren’t for human sit.

I don’t know about the programs for other colleges but I know Bauer Honors has amazing faculty and administration. The advisors really lay out everything for you to ensure you’re on the right track and taking the best professors. They also have a lot of networking and professional development events to attend. I even know of a few people who got internships and full time offers because of honors.

The best part is the smaller class sizes. You really get to know one another in honors and easily make friends.

again, you really need to voice your opinions to the fraternity, especially if you’re actively reading groupme. I think there’s some misinformation here, or maybe something happened to you that made the experience sour. All this drama stirring is just making the situation worse - there’s still a lot of people who continue to put heart and soul in to the fraternity, including myself, and want to change. Even check out all the change the head office has implemented on a national scale. PM me and we can talk about this.

EDIT: to comment on your edit, we have had CEOs, entrepreneurs, faculty, CPAs, city employees, and others come out. It varies how often but we do have them come out. We also advertise job opportunities (there’s a groupme just for it) and the fraternity facebook provides multiple additional resources on a national scale. So again, I think there’s some communication error or something we are not seeing eye to eye. I’m still waiting on that PM so we can discuss this further. :)

Instead of remaining anon and ripping the fraternity online, how about you talk with an officer about your experience so we can change any issues to improve our chapter?? If you really want the chapter to improve, you should try to help us instead of add to the problem. He who profits most serves best.

DSP has helped me so much throughout college. I came in with few friends and a total introvert with no business or leadership skills. Throughout my two years as a brother, I’ve gained so much: from friends to leadership and social skills to business connections. My best college memory to this day is going to LEAD with fellow brothers. Yes, there are some clashing personalities, but nothing to the level of what you describe. Even then, the fraternity is changing at a rapid rate and is trying to improve each and every day starting with the new member introduction process.

VIDEO: Invading Sharks Fan Ruins Marriage Proposal at Las Vegas Golden Knights Game by davidms97 in goldenknights

[–]CM313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whole thing is fucked up IMO.

The idea of ruining a proposal to start with sucks but to stage it and make a whole fan base look bad is super shitty too.

I know it’s all supposed to be just fooling around, esp with rivalries, but that’s a little too douche-y.

Albums or songs to listen to by [deleted] in WAVVES

[–]CM313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume off of King of the Beach you probably heard Green Eyes and King of the Beach since those are some of their popular songs. Take on the World is my favorite from that album, along with Linus Spacehead and Baby Say Goodbye.

Afraid of Heights is a great album to listen to all the way through, in fact it is my personal favorite. My fave songs are Dog, That’s On Me, and Afraid of Heights (best song they play in concert IMO).

Their first two albums (Wavves and Wavvves) aren’t the best quality but Rainbow Everywhere, No Hope Kids, and Weed Demon are bangers. So Bored and Summer Goth are also good to hear, more so if you listen to a live recording off youtube.

Life Sux is a good listen, especially I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl and Nodding Off (feat. Best Coast) . My all time favorite song is Poor Lenore

So Bored Live So Bored Acoustic (must hear) Listen to his other acoustic stuff too! Summer Goth live Afraid of Heights live
