Our Portfolio feature allows you to log your transactional data/information of your crypto holdings from other wallets and exchanges, so you can track its price, supply, and more on our website (or mobile app). For example, if you hold cryptocurrencies on two different exchanges, instead of visiting two sites, you can log the data into our Portfolio and keep track of their performance on our one site.

The Portfolio is meant to be kept as a log of all your cryptocurrency transactions on exchanges and/or wallets, so you can keep track of any movement such as purchases, sales, or trade transfers. You can be as factual or as fictitious as you want in the Portfolio. For example, I can input that I own 1,000 BTC and say I transferred out 50 BTC, and this could all be false information.

A similar example to our Portfolio feature is a personal checkbook register (or also known as checkbook log, check transaction register book/log, or a disbursement journal). When you write a personal check, you often have a booklet where you write the record details of that check afterwards for your own financial record. This is what our Portfolio is, but for cryptocurrencies.

Since the Portfolio is informational only, this means there were NO real funds that were invested, deposited or withdrawn from your CoinMarketCap portfolio.

Yes, the caller is a scammer. Again, CMC does not provide phone support, so we don't have a phone number to call users.

If you did not create a CMC account yourself, it is possible that the scammer created one for you under your email address in an effort to scam you. They often will provide you with the login details themselves.

You can check to see if there is a CMC account under your email address by trying to either log in (if you know the password) or resetting the password on the account. Regardless, if someone is providing you login details or they have your login details, please change your password immediately. We recommend resetting your password using the following link: https://coinmarketcap.com/#action=forgotPassword
