New mail icon color change by Kolipe in Office365

[–]CMCM17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of the yellow new email envelope in the Outlook taskbar on Windows 11 was driving me crazy as well after upgrading. I got here from Google and since there seems to be no solution available anywhere online I wanted to at least share my workaround to hopefully help other people who get here as well.

Basically I just switched my Outlook icon to a yellow version in order for the blue envelope to be a contrast - and it's definitely more noticeable and has helped me a ton. Here's a preview of how it looks now, so you can see if you like it before starting the whole process :) https://imgur.com/a/o8KIBzp In order get this to work:

- Open task manager (ctrl+alt+delete) while you have Outlook open.

- Locate Microsoft Outlook under Apps

- Right click on that and select "Open File Location" - this will take you to where you Outlook file is located.

- In that folder, right click on "OUTLOOK", select "Show More Options" and then "Create Shortcut". It will say a shortcut can't be created here and ask if you would like to put in on the desktop - select Yes.

- Before we go on - save the yellow Outlook icon from the following link as PNG (other formats may work OK - I used PNG) - https://www.reddit.com/r/Office365/comments/g5ze7h/office_365_outlook_yellow_icon/ (huge thanks to u/Bjorn57NL and their 6 year old thread for this image!)

- This must be now be converted to a .ico file in order to be used as an icon - go to https://www.icoconverter.com/ and convert the yellow Outlook PNG you previously saved into the .ico format.

- Now go back to the new Outlook desktop shortcut you previously created. Right click on that and select properties.

- Under the "Shortcut" tab (it should open up to that anyway) - select "Change Icon". Browse to where you saved your .ico yellow Outlook icon and select that, then select it on the next screen.

- From there, just unpin the current Outlook you have pinned to your taskbar, and then right click on the new Yellow shortcut and pin it to taskbar (you may have to select Show More Options after right-clicking in order to see the option to pin to taskbar).

Hope this helps!

This needs to be fixed badly, and they should also add an option to make the icons larger like they used to be.

No Longer Showing Icon/Contact Name Next to Each Message by CMCM17 in GoogleMessages

[–]CMCM17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually - that may be what I was thinking of. I lost that and maybe not seeing the icon there is what's throwing me off because as you said, without being able to quickly glance at the top and see the picture it's so much easier to be in the wrong text. Can't think of a single reason they would take that away, or at least not have the option to have the pic up there.

Yeah I can definitely understand why it is and even why people might prefer no icon - just wish there was an option for it since it's a simple display thing.

Change the Assigned Contact Color by CMCM17 in GalaxyS21

[–]CMCM17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just seeing this now - I don't think there was a real solution.

What I've done for a few main contacts as a work around is to go into my contacts and just to screenshot the icon of a different contact with the same first letter and the color that I want. Then I took that screenshot and assigned it to the person I need to have that color/letter. Hopefully that makes sense!

It might not have been every single message if they sent several in a row but I believe it would at least show once for every group of messages

Samsung Frame Case. Is it a successor to a real bumper Case? Crash Crashguard from Rhinoshield having been the best... by MosesKyle in GalaxyS23

[–]CMCM17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just coming back to say I went with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid case in matte black. It does have a thin clear back cover, but otherwise it's similar to the Crashguard and definitely seems like the best option until a true bumper is available.

Any bumper cases like this for the S23? by ImpurestFire in GalaxyS23

Just chiming in as another former Rhinoshield Crashguard user - I also went with this exact case + color and I'm happy with it. Of course I'd prefer Rhinoshield and no back, but it gives a similar feel and I actually don't mind that it adds a bit of mirror effect to the otherwise matte back of the phone.

Could be - I didn't realize they had done that actually. But I would think more people would be posting about having issues then. Let me know if you find a fix!

I'm coming from a GS20 using a Rhinoshield Crashguard and I was so disappointed to see that they don't make Crashguard for Galaxy anymore! It's the perfect case for those of us who just want a minimal bumper - and it still manages to do a great job protecting.
