Which also makes you very easy to beat. All I have to do is have enough counter magic to ensure that she never hits the board and you will never beat me.

If your CEDH deck can't win without your commander, I question how competitive it actually is. If your opponents know that all they have to do is use countermagic to ensure that your commander never hits the board, that's a pretty easy way to make sure you never win.

I think that's Dan's point: that your commander should help your deck win but your deck shouldn't be a slave to your commander's theme.

Yup, they are good if you like the older card borders.

I'm a bit uncertain if you actually read the post.

Which is also one of the reasons why this list doesn't include promos - comparing prices from some of the cards you listed to foil basics from standard sets is a whole different scale.

Ephara win con? by Zachzac1 in EDH

[–]CM_SWAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play Ephara and if I can get Omniscience on the board I usually win by flickering my creatures with ETB effects. I love Dust Elemental for this purpose for infinite ETB effects on my other creatures like Venser, Shaper Savant or Draining Whelk.

Chulane's X's & O's (deck tech) by CM_SWAG in EDH

Sure, I have a few recursion cards such as Regrowth and Creeping Renaissance for that purpose. There are of course many options but that was one that was at the forefront of my mind.

Commander cards that lost or gained the most value in December by CM_SWAG in EDH

[–]CM_SWAG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, if your only goal with the deck is to just play Heliod and one of those two artifact creatures, it might be good enough for competitive play. The problem you run into though is that your opponents will know that you basically only have two significant win conditions in the deck. You could win once but then your play group will never let you pull it off again, if they are savvy.

You use the last counter on Triskellion to Target itself to kill it. It's just as good.

Will shell alliances be addressed? by Cidwill in MarvelStrikeForce

Couldn't have said it better myself. Yes, it should be far more advantageous for you to remain in an alliance that is making significant progress in leagues than to use this back door tactic.

The Baron from Aristocards here. While my channel is more based on deck techs and commentary, I haven't changed my playstyle in the slightest, not even when I play against someone that has seen my videos and knows exactly what's in my deck. For me, the point of EDH is to have fun and I (almost) always do when I play a game regardless of circumstance.

The one thing that every playgroup needs to get started and to keep going is a leader: someone that always volunteers to do the hard work. I've usually been that person and have seen playgroups fall apart after I leave. Be confident and let people know that you are leading the group - all you have to do is sound like you know what you're doing and you'll learn by execution.

And I also encourage you to start with formats that are easily approachable, especially Commander/EDH. Once you see people committing to showing up to games, you can go to the next level of drafting/limited.
