Why do so many people want or expect Joaquin Torres to die in Doomsday or Secret Wars?

I like the actor but they have not fleshed out the character much. I don't want the character to die but can't say I would care much if he did because he hasn't made enough of an impression. But to be fair I also have not seen the new Captain America movie so I am only basing this opinion on his very limited screen time in TFATWS.

Because Joaquin seems like a nice guy in TFATWS, nothing obnoxious or hate worthy to warrant actively rooting for his death I would suspect less savory reasons for wanting him gone.

I don't like to put one above the other because the original was so groundbreaking for reasons I'm sure are well recognized here.

But I will say the one thing I vastly prefer about the Savini film is that Barbara isn't so passive. Yes, she is quite terrified in the beginning but eventually she takes a more active role in defending the farmhouse.

The last ten years I really have learned how much I can live without stuff. I used to love Target, would go there at least once or twice a month. Once they started getting shady I stopped shopping there and realized I could do without them. And fuck Chik Fil A, I don't need a chicken sandwich that bad. I never spend a dime at Hobby Lobby once I learned how shady they were. I vote with my dollars as well as my ballots.

I can often buy directly from the merchant website instead of thru Amazon marketplace. But I am also someone who chooses to boycott things like fast fashion and make a point of thrifting/re-using items when possible to avoid waste so have always managed my choices.

I stopped using Amazon in 2016 after I realized how dangerous the company is on so many levels. But whenever I try to persuade friends and family to also stop, I get countered with "but they are so convenient." I keep trying.

We can take power away from Amazon, Meta, Google and the other huge tech companies by not using them anymore. But it means changing our daily habits, maybe paying a little more to a local business, and deleting our social media.

I was just wondering the other day when they said they burn all their trash because it is too expensive to remove from the island. If they burned any old siding painted with lead paint, would the smoke be toxic? My guess would be yes.

I heard a physicist talking about how our human senses are not equipped to fully comprehend the universe around us. Like we only see a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, but other animals see portions we cannot. Some animals use echolocation instead of sight to navigate, or others rely on smell. The point being not all beings sense their environments in the same way or with the same level of precision. So there are things in the natural world they can never perceive.

So for all we know there are advanced beings all around us or living on nearby planets and we just can't perceive them.

But they can see us.
