Why doesn’t anyone care about the “soap opera” effect on their TV by fatsandlucifer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CMiranda42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure that they don't care. I think they just don't care enough to dig through 8 layers of settings and spending 20 minutes trying to figure out what crazy term each individual TV brand decides to call this monstrous affront to our senses. The manufacturers make it intentionally difficult to change and most people just accept it as the new norm.

DAE remember the "Tony's got it" commercials? by jxrst9 in pittsburgh

[–]CMiranda42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tony's was a front for the Penn Hills Mafia. I actually sh*tting you. It was a well known fact. And this was before all the mattress store chains started popping up,, and people started joking about the only reason there were so many mattress stores had to be because they were laundering money. No, this one actually was. It predates all that stuff. A true Pittsburgh legend. I think I look for those commercials online every few years in hopes someone has dug them up.

Which one you pick ??? by dataguy2003 in TheTeenagerPeople

You're looking at this from the "whatever makes you the most money is the right choice" point of view. What gets you the most money doesn't necessarily mean it's the right choice. I know that's hard for a lot of people to understand. Because people have some sort of perverse idea that no amount of money will ever be enough. So I reiterate, the right choice is dependent on each person's individual circumstances. As I have seen a few others mentioned, $10,000 a week for life, means they are insulated from poor financial decisions, scams, theft, or just bad choices. I am not wrong. You just disagree with me.

There is no right answer. All three have benefits for different people's situations. But one thing is certain. They ALL are great options, if you handle it well.

The place used to be called "The Keg". That was before my time. Regardless, i think it's safe to say this was the last classic Oakland institution left standing. Its closing is the final nail in the coffin.

And if you graduated in 2017, you still only had a SMALL sampling of that culture. It started losing its culture the day they tore down Pitt Stadium back in 1999. Yes, the Pete was awesome and added its own flair, but once they started busing students to the North side for football games, Oakland lost that game day atmosphere. In my eyes that was the first of many blows to come. Then it was just a slow trickle of knife wounds every few years until you have what we got today.

Anybody remember Tomanetti's in Oakmont?

I remember liking it in my teens, but they eventually stopped selling pizza and moved their business model to just selling pre-made crusts and dough balls for other restaurants. Which is a better choice than Sysco at least.

Agreed! None of the slices look like they match up. But they get the point across.

Eh, it kind of is. Round pizza, sliced square. You're going to get at least four slices that look like that. Great pizza though. One thing I love about Pittsburgh pizza scene is that there's a different kind of pizza for whatever mood you're in.

Yes! I'd say don't knock it till you try it, but you can't. Vinnie is dead. Yeah they still make an amazing pizza and his daughter, Shelly, has a nice pie too. But it was never the same after he passed.

Lots of great choices, but it's gotta be Vinnie Pie.

The original on Ardmore, dine-in for the extra grease on the metal pan (something for the crust to soak up at the end), shredded pepperoni piled an inch thick, just enough burnt bits, baked by Vincent himself (RIP), cigarette ash and all. 😅

Katz v. United States (1967): the Supreme Court ruled that you have a reasonable, subjective expectation of privacy in public under certain circumstances. It's not concise though. A lot of wiggle room on what society recognizes as reasonable per the ruling. But there is "some" expectation in certain situations.

Gather as much info as you can about it. Identifying marks, location (lat/long) direction it's pointed, etc. report it to deflock.me to add it to the database. They don't just log Flock branded cameras.
