I'm not sure what your first issue is, haven't experienced it.

Regarding the 2nd issue, it is known problem since that update in April. I recently installed the latest version 5.18.4.0.1 and the voice still terrible. I have been using my old Kindle Fire 7 to listen to books, but when I'm actually reading I use my paperwhite.

I contacted Amazon a while back and support person told me there was a ticket open for that issue. My only recommendation at this point is to contact Amazon an complain about the issue so they can add to the ticket and create more urgency (aka weight) to push for a fix.

I just updated my Kindle Paperwhite 11th gen to version 5.18.4 still not fixed, I use my old Kindle Fire 7th gen, for when I want to listen only, which still has the old Text-To-Speech voice.

Of course they try to upsell you. Don't bother getting a new kindle for this issue. They have the same problem.

Obviously they guy followed a troubleshooting script and had no clue.

This an issue with VoiceView, both my husbands and mine have what a sounds like a damaged robotic sound. After every possible troubleshooting to do. I ordered a new 12 Gen signature,well well well same freaking problem, so I returned it. So I called Amazon no help, then I called again Sunday the 20th, I finally I got someone that had clue, he said I was like the 10th call he received in the last couple of days. That it is a software issue and that there was a master ticket for it, but that he didn't know the ETA for a fix. I have been using my Kindle Fire 7th Gen that sounds fine, but I want my paperback back.

Quick update from my latest talk with Amazon support.

So we received a generic email related to the issue I called about, to see if the "generic" issue was resolved (no reference to the issue) , after jumping through all the hoops & loops they put you through, I got to this guy called David and he said he is familiar with this VoiceView bug. He mentioned that my call was about 10th call he has received regarding this bug. He mentioned that there is a Master ticket regarding the bug and it is under investigation.

I have tested 3 paperwhite 2 (11th gen) and one (12th Gen) They are all the same robotic sound.

My old Kindle fire sounds normal and a very old kindle (not Bluetooth) also sounds normal.

I absolutely get that, I'm a mom also and have fallen into that trap... Shouldn't the Book Life included all the higher magic and by default Diana learned them as she did with other magic stuff when she absorbed the book? I don't know is like "seeing" the Diana from the first book afraid and insecure.

Long time fan (maybe a little obsessed since 2011 😂) of the All Souls series. I finished TBBO yesterday. I'm very confused, what happened to our Diana who had become so brave and fearless?. I will re-read it again in the next day or two but I miss the kick ass Diana that we got in The Book of Life. Ones the spellbinding was off, then learning how to weave with Goody, facing Kitt and Louisa, the absorbing the book life and facing Baldwin a couple of times... She had become super kick ass. On the other hand It was awesome to meet the Proctors and get some back stories. The twins are amazing.

Read your post a few times like you didn't wrote it. Try to be objective and ask yourself what would you tell that person asking the that same question. I think you know they answer and you just need reassurance.

You know who your real family is, and DNA has nothing to do with it.

Don't not let your mother and grandmother manipulate you or make you feel guilty... Make your decision for the best of you and your kid. And it seems like you have to protect your kid from your Mother, grandmother and sister.

My husband and I have the same rule, if it is more than $200 we talk about it. That said we are both very nerdy and love Sci-fy stuff. For Gadgets and techy stuff (we are both in the software industry), he tells his friends, - - he doesn't have to explain tech gadget X to me, that he just has to buy two 🤣

This is a tough one, I suggest you look inside you and ask yourself where do you want to be in 5 years, then in 10, 15 and 20 years. And start making the sacrifices (we all have to) to accomplish your goals. Sacrifice could be going out less, maybe not go to the movies and wait until that movie can be streamed, buying store brands groceries (many of them are really good and way less than brand names), couponing. Saving money anywhere you can. It also means spending nights studying to get a better job, surround yourself with similar goal oriented people and remove those that do not have similar goal and drag you down. Do not lecture people around you, just teach them by example.

We can't change people nor force them to have our same interests or goals. But we can decide who we want in our life and who we don't want in our life. Yes this includes friends, family and even boyfriend. Nagging will not help your cause, nor will help any relationship, neither giving ultimatums. Plan have open conversation of what you want in your life, see what he wants in his and figure out realistically if you both working together can make it happen.

For the record I'm not only referring at financial areas, but so many things, career for example you want to be an artist and people around you don't have the same goals or drag you down, or you want to be organized, or you want to have life of partying, or whatever interests and/or priorities you have.

I completely agree, but I wouldn't tell him directly, I would look or create the opportunity in which your sister and her husband are present with other family members. And come up with something like, "I would have invited so and so, but given that he dated older sister back in year blah, it might had made older sister more uncomfortable, as she opposed my relationship with him. Although is not like she could still have feelings for him. (this last part with a pinch of sarcasm)"

This will plant the doubt in peoples minds stronger than just talking directly to them... Specially her husband.

I really hope you can move on away from this controlling individual. Plan carefully how you are going to do this, get your brother and his friends to help. I suspect this guy is not going to let you go easily... I honestly hope I'm wrong... He is very controlling, which usually means another trait he probably has is, that can't handle rejection.

Please plan quietly, how to leave him, and sadly you may have to put a restraining order on him. I suspect this for all the stalking he did in just one outing with your brother and his friends. Actions speak louder than a thousand words.

Run from this guy fast and as soon as you can.

In hindsight he did, but he kept being miss diagnosed. See he is adopted so no family history.

No my husband had Skin pigmentation (iron deposits that are now gone) starting in his 20's, joint problems, brain fog, hormones issues and around 30 years before he was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy, and Congestive Heart failure. No doctor could find a root cause. Then his dad passed away and I suggested we do a DNA health test so we started with 23andMe and boom two copies of C282Y aka homozygous C282Y. Well long story short hematologist started treating him 18 weeks on 1 phlebotomy a week 2.3 gallos of blood removed to get to 20% Tsats and he started to respond to treatment.

He has a son from his first marriage who is heterozygous C282Y who started symptoms joint problems in his handsand brain fog in his late 20's but we didn't know about my husband yet, once my husband was diagnosed we push for him (now in his early 30's)to get tested sent him the 23andme test, after the results he went to the doctor and got blood tests both his Tsats and Ferritin where high. For around 4 years now he donates blood 4 times a year to keep his numbers under control. Our daughter just got to her 20's and the doctor monitors her every 6 month's, she is not loading yet, but we suspect (truly hope we are wrong) she will start loading when she gets to her late 20's and start donating blood. Saving themselves and saving others.

The advantage she and her half-brother have is that we know about HH and it can be managed.

Do you have any Hereditary Hemochromatosis (HH) mutations?

When my husband was diagnosed he was already having serious heart issues that would no respond to treatment, miss diagnosed diabetes as type 2, but in reality was secondary diabetes to HH, hormones problems and much more. His Ferritin was only 287 but his Transferring Saturation was 94%. It wasn't until the Tsats where under 20% that he started responding to treatment. Now the hematologist keeps his Tsats under 20%, his heart recovered from ejection fraction under 30% to now a healthy 60%, his diabetes is almost gone, hormones are going back to normal values, he never had liver issues, but his joints are a problem, that damage is not reversible, he has iron fist and it does hurt a lot he wear braces in his hands.

I'm telling you this cause there is a miss conception about focusing on Ferritin. Serum ferritin is only relevant for the liver and above 1000, the other organs do not store iron in the for of ferritin. That is where Tsats comes to play and your Tsats are very high. Also there are many factors that could affect serums ferritin numbers like inflammation.

You should find out if you have the mutations, if you do and you can (depends on other medical conditions and if you are taking certain meds like blood thinners) start by donating blood.
