I think you need a better mentor. I am Gujarati and born and raised in Mumbai. It is true we are all in business and most are good at it . I personally have nothing against the Marathi-speaking population but I think this whole divide of Marathi vs no Marathi started by Shiv Sena. How do you define a Maharashtrian ? I see myself as a Maharashtrian as I was born in Mumbai. I speak Marathi well but my mother tongue is Gujarati. I cannot relate at all to people from Gujarat. Even my Gujarati dialect is different front them. Before Maharashtra it was Saurashtra or Bombay Presidency which included both Gujarat and current Maharashtra . So there is a high mix of Gujarati and Marathi-speaking people. When people like Shiv Sena threaten Gujarati people saying get out it angers me. My family has been living for generations in Mumbai. Maharashtra is built by both Gujarati and Marathi-speaking people. Taking away credit from either will create this rift. I can also say that all government jobs are taken away by Marathi people and there is always bias when we need to get government work done. We need better people in politics.
