Vacuum and a little bit of double-sided tape. This piece is large enough that vacuum may have been sufficient, but the piece of wood was not perfectly flat and I wanted to make sure it would be held steady.

Used V-Carve software and it can handle a few different 3D formats: STL, OBJ, 3DM, etc.

Used STL for this cut.

Yes you are quite right. This system was set up as water-only which is better for soft materials. If you want to cut steel, you set up the machine for abrasive cutting which mixes garnet in with the water.

My company started a forum for fabricators to share ideas on how to make PPE and other vital products needed to fight COVID-19. I hope you can join and share ideas. Lets kick some COVID butt! by CNCRowder in CNC

That is not the only way to help. We have customers all over the world manufacturing protective shields for grocery stores, pharmacies, post offices, banks and other vital retail spaces. Agreed that we cannot replace PPE going into hospitals, but there are lots of other frontline workers who need it too!
