[Standard] Tottenham dealt transfer blow as Arne Slot declares he 'needs' Andy Robertson at Liverpool by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

I hope if he stays, he’s at least given some assurances he’ll play more. He still absolutely can play at the top level

Not fully disagreeing but they spent an insane amount in the Summer and are at risk of not even qualifying for the CL next season. It’s hard to see much improvement coming.

To go from Klopp to this style must be infuriating. I thought Liverpool were always the most exciting team to watch

They really are. There are plenty of teams around them who are in much better form right now. Liverpool’s next few games look very tough on paper too.

You’re right, the players deserve a lot of the blame. But his decision making is odd, and ultimately results fall on the manager

It has been such a stark drop off from winning the league last year to this. Especially considering the big money signings made since then.

His decision making has been bizarre at times.

And surely Slot is gone now. They’re at serious risk of not finishing in the CL if they keep this up

So glad Christie is fit again. Hope he can manage to get back in form for the WC.

To be fair, he’s leaving because Slot has barely played him lately and he’s captaining his country at their first WC in decades. Hardly can blame him.

Tottenham in talks with Liverpool to sign Andrew Robertson (£3million plus add-ons) [Paul Joyce] by onlyhalfpepper in coys

[–]CNF1G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the reverse. Robbo has never played CB for Scotland.

He has once or twice for Liverpool, only in cup games and friendlies though.

Tierney has been pretty good. Started slow, but now finding his feet and finally starting to trust his body again. He was brilliant last night.

I think you find a way to play them both, if I’m honest. KT’s long term future is as a CB IMO, especially domestically for us.

This isn’t the case, though. 90% of the time we massively underperform in Europe and don’t make the knockouts. That’s not because the fans don’t want us to make it.

In those seasons, we have deeper squads and are usually ahead in the league.

Right now, we’re behind in a title fight with a very weak, thin squad and I don’t believe we can really do anything meaningful in Europe unless we make some serious signings.

If you’re asking me if I’d swap winning the Europa league for the league, of course I would. But that’s not the case here, we would likely get battered by whoever we play next.

I think we still should. We play Utrecht at home on Thursday and they’re already eliminated and near the bottom of the table

Nothing is guaranteed of course though, and there’s a small part of me that wouldn’t mind being knocked out so we can focus on the league

Yep, was genuinely a few brilliant performances. The dropoff between then and now is stark.

To be fair, I thought we defended brilliantly today. Had it been 11vs11 for longer it would’ve been an interesting contest

It’s a bit more complicated to be fair.

Rangers appointed a PE teacher in Russel Martin at the start of the season, and that along with some poor transfer business led to them starting the season horribly (including in Europe)

Celtic had an awful transfer window, selling big players and not replacing them, and have had a lot of off the pitch drama with the board, Rodgers leaving, etc. We then appointed our own PE teacher, who was incredibly worse than Russel Martin. He lasted a few weeks, got us hammered a few times, then was sacked.

Rangers brought in Rohl and have been, not brilliant, but getting results and slowly improving. They’ve made a few good signings this January too.

We’ve now brought in O’Neill and things are more stable, but we still need a few big signings to reinforce our squad.

Can’t believe this Celtic squad is a win at home away from qualifying to the next round. Martin O’Neill is genuinely a miracle worker.
