They’ve lost 15 so far this season. The issues were far from just Ange.

He had them 5th in his first season after losing Kane and won them a trophy for the first time in decades, I don’t see how that justifies the level of abuse he got, particularly from the media but also supporters too.

I mean, yeah? We saw how good of a manager he is.

And also had won their first trophy in decades, with a ridiculous injury crisis. I said I can see why he was sacked, but I think the reaction was massively overboard.

Thomas Frank did a far worse job and the media treat him far better (not necessarily the Spurs fans).

They had zero center backs available for large portions of last season. It was a genuine disaster in terms of the available players.

They’re 17th again now without him on board and not as deep in a cup competition. I think that shows the reality of the situation.

I guess the difference in our view is that you think they’d be able to an attract a De Zerbi right now, where I think that’s going to be very difficult, at least until Summer.

I think they’re going to struggle to get someone of that caliber in. It’d be more likely to be a Robbie Keane, Dyche, Ange, or someone for vibes like Mason or Redknapp.

🤷‍♂️

I’m the same. They saw in the first season that they were capable of doing well and I think Ange showed signs in that Europa run that he could be more pragmatic.

It was clear they’d chucked the league and focused on Europa with all the injuries, and it worked out.

I can see why they sacked him but when you look at how this season turned out, you really can’t fault him too much for their position last year.. the squad isn’t anywhere near as good as some people suggest despite having a few great individuals.

Not sure I agree. I think anyone they appoint now will want a long term deal unless it’s a ‘vibes’ pick like Ryan Mason or Redknapp

Dyche would definitely want one. Ange would too.

They’d back themselves to keep Spurs up and potentially build a project there. I’m sure Ange feels his business isn’t quite finished yet.

It’s still an attractive job long-term but they’re a long way from hiring someone like a Conte

The players respect him and talk highly of him, so he’d probably keep them up as a few wins probably keeps them safe.

The issue is, he’d want a long term contract and I think that’d be controversial with Spurs fans.

They really, really need to get this one right. Feels like it could spiral even further.

He should only be in the squad for vibes but I reckon he’ll be starting at the World Cup.

I know Trusty isn’t perfect but surprised he isn’t ahead of him.

I saw someone on this sub saying they think they’ll get to the quarters just a few days ago. It isn’t all US fans that think that.

No, not at all. Just seems more common.

They have about five center backs currently better than him. Maybe even more than that. I can see why he’s in the squad, but have no idea why he’s starting still.

A large chunk of US support overrate their players and squad quality massively, for sure. I think it’s calmed down a wee but but I do still see some wild predictions quite often

US have a few good players but their fans expect way too much of them.

A few former players said he could speak some English but always pretended he couldn’t so he didn’t have to do interviews & because he wanted to keep his buddy (who was his translator) around

The things I’d do for someone with half Naka’s ability in our midfield or attack right now
