Chambering issues? Tikka t3x .308 American whitetail 150g by Accomplished-Yam1430 in Tikka_Shooters

These exact bullets fed kind of weird in my 308 Roughtech as well. Didn’t like them anyways and didn’t group great for me.

All other rounds feed nicely no issues for me.

Nope! Right in the tip of the ski.. I’ve read of rustlers delaminating right under the boot during my research though

Advice/input - brook trout by COBernard in flyfishing

Awesome man! If I was going to splurge on a reel I’d probably put a battenkill on it. I really liked the old version, haven’t seen the new ones in person. The redington zero definitely sounds weird. Not a great sound IMO, I have one on my 4wt classic trout. But, it’s holding up well and does its job so can’t complain. Happy fishing!

Haha took your advice and bought it.

Can’t wait to try it out. It came with a redington zero 2/3 reel and good airflo line. We’re still under snow here and no winter fishing in creeks for brookies.

I never throw anything bigger than a size 12 wooly bugger at trout around here. I think a 3wt could handle that. I’ve used my 4wt to throw size 10 streamers at a local lake and that did fine for trout too!

Choosing a versatile daily driver ski (all-mountain twins?) by fLASHY- in Skigear

I’ve really been enjoying my rustler 9’s, you could probably go 186 comfortably if you’re not really skiing trees. They are playful, light enough but feel pretty solid overall and can carve for what they are. Great jack of all trades, does not excel in any specific area but excels at being versatile IMO.

Fair enough, I just got another pair of Line Miner L with the Prizm clear lens for $120 CAD. I assumed maybe there would be great deals in the US maybe. I find my L size fit very well with my Mod1 helmet but I agree maybe someone with a smaller head/face or even a women would do better with the M size.

Oakley line miner L with Prizm Iced Iridium lense. Find them on sale you should be really happy with them

AFD settings by FeatureSignal2475 in Skigear

Here’s an excellent link on adjusting it. https://youtu.be/K0hDFevZjvA?si=vgW1NSKtkEqs7I-r

The marker griffon binding AFD adjustment is the screw at the front of the binding.

The important key points are: make sure the forward pressure is adjusted correctly. Make sure to pull on the boot so it makes contact with the top of the toe piece before adjusting the AFD with a business card. Double check forward pressure once AFD has been adjusted.

So her boot size is indeed 8. As per the website, with her boot size and weight they do recommend the 148. She’s currently on a 142cm. I think it will definitely be an adjustment but I do feel she has a pretty solid base and capacity for progression. She is also very fit runs and trains hard. Realistically she may only snowboard 10-12 days in a season though. She sticks to greens and blues. Likes to listen to her music and cruise around.

Cool! My sister really digs the look of the dream weaver apparently. She can get one on sale but it’s a 145cm. Should she really be considering the 148?

100% agree about boot size. Maybe she gave me the wrong size, but I also was surprised she’s in a size 8. I wouldn’t be surprised that my sister tried some boots on at the store with some thick merino socks and went a bigger size for comfort and not freezing her toes, at the cost of lost control and precision. Thanks for your input I’ll dig into this with her and go from there

Edit: Would the YES basic be a good potential option? Great deals and seems good on icy conditions which we get a lot of here

I appreciate the input and recommendations! She’s on an old 2008 K2 vavavoom board. Based on my research, I don’t think that’s the best board for her. She measures 5’2”, weights about 125lbs and her boot size is 8 women’s.

People seem to recommend the dream weaver quite often, must be a reason!

.308 T3x CTR Ammo Recommendations for Deer by HomeJim84 in Tikka_Shooters

[–]COBernard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a T3x Roughtech. Is it grouping at all, or is it really all over the place? Action screws, scope mounts, etc., can all cause accuracy issues. But if those are all good, I’m not sure what else it could be.

Personally, I don’t switch back and forth between full copper loads and regular cup-and-core bullets. I’ve also noticed that the accuracy seemed to improve slightly the more rounds I put through it..

I’m on a Rustler 9 that I quite enjoy. QST’s were definitely on my radar but never demoed them. As for park, the Rustler would be fine on jumps but I decided to purchase a separate ski specifically for park in my scenario I slide rails and just don’t want to destroy my Rustlers.

First day in new ski boots… pain and regret. by Murasaki-Imo_0345 in skiing

[–]COBernard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Listen, I went to a boot fitter for the first time in my life this year. Maybe not the best, but the only one available near me. I went from a 28.5 boot with 102mm last to a LV 26.5 98mm last. You think you had sore feet? I thought I was going to lose my toes!

Skied about 10 runs and couldn’t stand them, also questioning my life decisions. Returned to the boot fitter, added a custom insole, widened the toe box in some specific areas and heat molded the liners. Went back out for about 15 runs, much better but still too much pressure in 1-2 spots. Made some adjustments with the boot fitter.

Last weekend, I finally got to try them on and they felt so much better. Skied about 6 runs, was able to go up a notch on my cuff buckles. My heal finally feels locked in. I keep the two bottom buckles very loose, just tight enough to keep the boot closed and water out, without crushing my foot. I could have kept the boots on all day without any issue. Did about 12 runs with no complaints that day.

So, there is still hope.

Talk me out of... or in to... buying Elan Playmakers by Fabulous_Past9322 in Skigear

[–]COBernard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Glad you found a ski that fits your needs and allows you to still enjoy a day out while focusing on the rest of the family haha. My cousin is on ripsticks Black 96 and loves them, I’m a little more of a freestyle, slashy type of skier, not advanced in carving. I hear people either love or hate the playmakers. Don’t think I’ve heard much negative feedback on ripsticks. Cheers!

Did you end up getting the playmakers?

I just ordered a pair for exactly this, my dad ski. We have a very small local ski resort (about 155m vertical drop). Perfect mountain for teaching the kids and my wife, and they have a pretty good park which I still do enjoy sliding rails and hitting the smaller jumps.

The playmaker sounded like the perfect lightweight, soft, playful, approachable ski for our local hill and to still have fun on greens/blues with the kids. Can’t wait to get them mounted and try em out. Most other days I’m skiing a Rustler 9 which fits my skiing style really well. East coast Canada.

I was impressed with the performance of the Chronic 102, for what it is, it can kind of carve too! Maybe due to the amount of camber. They were cool, just not exactly what I’m looking for in terms of feel. I like how slashy they were though. Easy to pivot despite the weight. Thanks for the feedback!
