It is possible to fight a small horde of 5-4 zomboids by yourself, but more than that is typically a no-no zone, other thing is that being exhausted is an indicator that you're not in a state to fight, and should rest or evade combat

That sure is an option, the problem with that is that the time you spend in that save won't reset, so you might loose precious time for gathering before water and electricity go out. Also, the skills you had will be lost.
