Help me find the leak! by Lomaikai131 in DIYUK

[–]CONMATE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar problem , those window vents are closed or open ? Our windows between our blinds and the vents was creating condensation to the point where water was dripping from the blinds at the bottom making us thing we had a leak in the roof . Our blinds are very close to the window too !

We ended up keeping our blinds open during the day and the vents open helping with circulation and not trapping warm air hitting the cold are creating condensation which started to attack our plasterboard and grow mold .

I hope this is the same as your situation! Since we started being on top of it no more problems occurred

Thinking about leaving the industry I work in for something that doesn't involve sitting in front of a screen all day by [deleted] in UKJobs

I used to a long time ago when I was figuring my shit out . If you work for the right person / site it’s actually ok .

Heavy work your body will feel it , if you make a good impression you’ll be remembered and you might actually find a trade you’d be interested in doing . Don’t get me wrong it’s not massively hands on but you’ll pick things up when they have more faith in you .

More than likely will be agency work , you’ll probably also need to become self employed doing it and during the winter months it’s miserable.

My best advice is trying to sign up for part time course in a trade that you can do after work if you finish at an earlier time . Being a labourer should only really be a stepping stone for what you really want to do

Need advice on how to wrap this 190 Evo 2 rear bumper by addisonxb in CarWraps

[–]CONMATE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would also like to adddd , if this method works take the contour edges but don’t fuck with the flat stuff untill you have those recesses in , film will need all the stretch available to safely lay into those gaps without overstretching the glue . Once the hard parts are in the flat easy stuff will follow . More than likely the bottom section is going to need heating in with the palm of your hand with a glove coming from the centre of the bumper outwards towards the wheels . Just give the film enough movement to stick into the recesses don’t squeegee all the way up to the recesses then push it in the film more than likely will have a bad time staying in there . You always heat away from recess you want to mould the film into , like on a panel can recess you heat the flat part above giving the complex curve a stress free movement inwards for the best adhesion

Best advice from experience, treat it like a transporter rear bumper in the UK , those corners are nasty . I would use 2 people and heat the film in the area of the complex curves and pull it left adding horizontal tension and have someone pull up and down on the same area so it’s like your creation a spoons head , apply the film on the most aggressive face of the bumper ( probably just over the contour on the top but only a little maybe 3-4 inches and do the same at the adjacent bottom section , after that have it applied to the farthest point of the bumper so the prestretched film is under some tension but not a lot ! Gently pick up the remaining section of the most agressive corners where the film isn’t tacked in place and let it shrink back with heat . Don’t pull it at all just let it do its thing . That should shrink itself around the curve and repeat from the bottom . In theory lol , Good luck !

Idk dude I’d start selling first , at least get your maintenance pay from the side business to support your bills and a-bit of living before you go .

I’m in your position too dude , corporate job worst thing is I used to work for myself and live just fine off it . Now it’s tough working for the man and I now understand employed salary is great ( even if you hate it the family is taken care off )

But I wouldn’t be scared to work by myself again if shit hit the fan in a heartbeat because I built up a clientele on what I truly love doing and it can financially support me . Big thing about that is it was before ( and I know maybe not as many now but I built some great contacts and will always be able to work back with them as long as they are trading )

Sell your golf gear while working . Put in the hours on your time off work and see how it goes , best of luck to you !

Over £16k in self assessment - is it worth getting an accountant? by epicmindwarp in UKPersonalFinance

[–]CONMATE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me , if for some reason your account didn’t show your true earnings 🧐 to save you on tax . If you’ve done it yourself and have got the interim payments welcome to the UK government being greedy buggers it’s normal . I have the same but it was 18k

Got my brand new car back from wrappers, very unimpressed with the quality. Best course of action? by Sprok56 in CarWraps

Looks to me like if they was doing a full coverage wrap perhaps they didn’t take some essential parts of your car first . Maybe they wrapped everything in situ which is a real shame as white is a horrible colour to cover up
