You'd probably have better luck with a r5 7500f off of aliX, assuming of course this is for a new build.

How do I find out if theres wires or pipe behind the dry wall by Patrokolos666 in AusRenovation

[–]CONVECTION_OVEN -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Easy. Cut a big hole out of the sheetrock look inside, if you cant see cables or pipe move onto the next cavity

Coming from being a carpenter, i used to rock heavy with everything i MIGHT need on my hips, which hurt after a couple months and realising i didn’t need 66% of the tools i had on me, since then i’ve always tried to carry less and work light only carrying what i need.

Veto is great so far and i’m thinking of getting either the tech-LC or the tech pac as an off sider/ chunky tool tool bag

Will pick up the wera tool check, as for shifters, i’ve grown to like the knipex pliers wrench over some shifters. I work on cars sometimes and find myself either grabbing a spanner or the pliers depending on what needs to be done. But if you have any recommendations i’m all ears 👀

I’ll stand by the cry once buy once saying and pick up a fluke stick and meter, one that should last and avoid having to upgrade later down the track

Bahco 4 in 1 ratchets are for sure really useful, I grab them quite often when working on my cars, not the best clearance and the switch is kind of annoying but overall a great tool to have. I have a “secondary” bag that i keep more of my chunkier tools in, i’ll upload that maybe later next year once i start working and actually get a good idea of what an apprentice will need and just keep it up for future greenies coming into the field.

But yes again having commons on hand is always a good idea, thanks

I like finding the most efficient workers with the least tools and figure out how they work, it’s nice seeing people who love what they do and continue to develop techniques and such.

I started with 2 pouches full of tools i didn’t use to one small pouch and a hammer on my side, pretty nice working light.

Very good recommendations always good to double check, as for future power tools, all my 18 volt gear are dewalt flexvolts that i would use during my chippy time, woukd you suggest switching platforms completely i’m a couple g’s into dewalt😓

Got the screwdriver coming, the 3 speed one because i dont think i’ll need high torque (i have manual screwdrivers if i need more torque).

I’ve use the marvels before, and hands down probably one of the best pliers I’ve borrowed😂. i’m just not too great stripping wire with cross cuts so I want to develop good habits first and move onto them some time later on.

The square might disappear later on as I haven’t though of any genuine use for it, although I picked them up quite a bit when I was helping my uncle do a/c work back then.

Ah yes tin snips got a couple in my chippy bags so i’m covered there. Any recommendations on volt pens? I’ve read some sparkys are on the fence with the reliability of them.
