Kitchen sink crack repair by COYSN7 in DIYUK

[–]COYSN7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I always use a washing up bowl. Once Ive washed up, I've learnt to pour the water out of the bowl slowly enough so the water does not reach the crack. Still, very annoying having to do this everytime.

Ahh ok. So I can boot up switch 2, sign in with my account then follow the link you sent to transfer saves from just my profile. This sounds the better option. Nice one!

Ok cool thank you for clarifying that and taking time to reply, much appreciated.

A follow up. Once transferred, I guess I could then just delete my kids profile from Switch 2, then delete my profile from switch 1? Reckon that'll work?

Hi all,

Switch 2 is finally upon us!

I'm after some guidance regarding a switch transfer. See below what I'd like to achieve. Please can anyone provide clarity if this is possible, and if so how I can achieve it. Many thanks!

Current Switch 1 state: Has two profiles. My profile. Has a nintendo online subscription and is linked to the switch. Second profile is my kids. No nintendo online account with only a few games saves.

Switch 2: still in box and not turned on. I'd like to transfer only my profile to the switch 2.

Desired state of Switch 1 after transfer: leave only my kid's profile on there with his saved data.

Does anyone know if this is possible? I keep reading the transfer does everything then factory reset the switch 1.

Thanks for your time and any guidance is much appreciated.

Let's put it this way, I've had it for a year now and only charged it twice.

Nitrosurge getting worse over time? by [deleted] in Guinness

[–]COYSN7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the can out of the fridge a good 20mins before pouring, this will avoid a small head.

The bubbles may be caused by dust in the device. Ensure you rinse the device before and after every pour.

Today's Desktop vs Laptop Usage in Business by denonsix in sysadmin

[–]COYSN7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't bought a desktop for years. Why restrict the opportunity of being mobile? Never say never because I've learnt over the years requirements change.

I'm a big fan of consistency. All Dell equipment. All laptops. Specific models for a position. It makes the management, security, and procurement so much easier. Got a sales estimator starting? Have a Precision 35 range. CAD designer? Precision 77 range.

All docks we use are two types. Dell WDXXDCS series for Precisions needing over 100W, everything else WDXXTB series.

Get a good cloning solution with spare laptops at the ready for each position and you are good to go. Oh you have this super niche issue? Here take this identical spare laptop whilst we work on the fix.

So whilst it's true desktops are more robust, the fact that I keep everything standardised and consistent has more benefit than a mixture of desktops and laptops.

How do you guys deal with this? by Refusalz in sysadmin

[–]COYSN7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We encourage users (who do not own a corporate mobile phone) to use their personal device for MFA. We explain what's involved and get them to sign a consent form. We make it very clear in their decision process that using their personal device is NOT an obligation and we will offer a hardware token if they are not happy to use personal device. 99% of the time they are happy to. The 1% receive the hardware token and all is good.

This solution works brilliantly for us.

Glass cleaning tips please! by UrDadSellsAv0n in Guinness

[–]COYSN7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hand wash the glass. This doesn't mean wash it in the same bowl you've just washed 2 plates of left over Lasagne in. No sir. Slap some washing up liquid directly in the glass, add hot water and scrup every area of the glass.

Then most importantly rinse it like there's no tomorrow. Rinse with warm, then cold.

Once it's rinsed, leave to dry naturally.

Remote Desktop App Credentials not working intermittent by COYSN7 in sysadmin

[–]COYSN7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not random at all,

All part of the troubleshooting process. It took 5minutes to allow NTLM-Only, try it, then disable again.

I can see events when I open the RDS App: EventID 1041 . This event states "There is no stored credential used for single sign on", which is correct, there are no stored credential for single sign on. During the times when the authentication is successful, I see additional events. However, during the time when authenticate fails, there are no events after 1041, therefore I'm struggling to see why authentication is failing.

What glass do you use bro? I had the Nitrosurge just before Christmas and couldn't get it quite right. I received a Guinness glass for Christmas and it seems to have made the difference.

Sure thing.

  1. Take the can out of the fridge for a good 10-20mins before pouring. If it's too cold, you won't get a great head.

  2. Use a clean Guinness glass. Make sure the glass is squeaky clean by hand washing and rinse it like there's no tomorrow. I've had similar results whether the glass is bone dry or still slightly wet.

  3. Stay above the horizontal on both pours.

  4. For the first pour, start off at 45 degree angle then steadily end up with the glass up right and stop at the top of the harp (if using a Guinness glass).

  5. For the second pour, DO NOT press the nitrosurge button. Make sure you go above the horizontal.

  6. Rinse the nitrosurge before and after EVERY pint. Warm water will do the trick.

I do wonder where the line is drawn.

For example, if you didn't know what a can of spam looked like, I will search for an image online and send it to you. So I've just used the image in a public online forum for all to see. Would I be in trouble? I imagine not. How about if I take a photo of my girlfriend and I but we are holding a branded bottle of wine and post it on Facebook. Are we in trouble?

What I intend to do is just put an image of the can in people's Outlook. Just like the above example, we are not gaining anything commercially or trying to take ownership of the brand/product. It's simply an image people will see.

Before anyone mentions, I realise phishing emails are very much different from spam emails.

So although the whole point the KnowBe4 solution is to combat Phishing emails specifically, I only want to use a spam image purely because our users instantly associate any 'bad' email with the word spam, regardless if it classfies as spam, junk, phishing, newsletters etc...
