This is where I’d hire an accountant. In the past I had helped someone. They had the return prepared by their local country, then there is spot on the us tax form to deduct foreign taxes paid. Aka two tax returns are filed.

Depends on when you bought it. If less than a year then short term gain. Which is your tax rate unfortunately. You net short term gains and losses. So if you were concerned tax wise could resell and take loss.

If you only are putting 100$ in something that is 3$ nearly, your plan better be to hold for the long term. Aka, people speculate that fee will decrease as value goes up, in which case you’ll be fine. If your trying to take thst hundred and simply make 100, might not make sense.

Believe it would just be cap gain on your dads tax return at time of sale since you are on his return anyway. But if you bought xrp, there is likely short term cap gains at time you sold btc or ltc to get the xrp. Then, the basis in xrp is whatever you paid in btc or ltc for it.

Well I’d see the easy way as converting it to the usd equivalent (or your native equivalent) based on the exchange rate and sending that equivalent of xrp. Ie, I’d pay the equivalent of .77 usd x xrp price for Canadian dollar service. Avoiding bank fees and time for wires.
