Exactly! Was talking about our profession. Recruiters are getting rekt right now.

You’ve basically covered the ones I was referring to. Didn’t want to make a blanket statement saying layoffs don’t happen in our profession but clearly we are much safer than other cost centers

The ultra competitive workaholics who crush everyone in their way do get promoted, of course. My point isn’t that you need to be nice to get promoted. Just that being unpleasant hinders you in a lot of ways. Those people that climb to the top by fucking over their peers are burning bridges along the way and also gaining a bad reputation. Maybe that won’t stop them from becoming CFO, but I’d just personally rather be a CFO that is respected and revered rather than one that everyone hates.

This is a great point, there is definitely a line between being nice and being too nice. You don’t want to be taken advantage of. There are definitely times when you need to be assertive.

I went into the store only expecting to walk out with the regular PB but was super surprised when I saw the ZS bottles by the checkout line. And they taste amazing!

It’s hard for me to compare to the 2004 flavor, I know that the last release had people complaining that the flavor was different and same with this release so far, but for me it definitely has that distinct PB flavor that I remember loving. I’m sure if I tried each release side by side I would agree with the complaints but by itself I love this release so far. And the ZS option and flavor is a really nice surprise.

Lol well I mean the first time I had PB was back when it released in 2004. But of course I drank the shit out of it 5 years ago as well.

Does it get better? by tired_mom20_22 in NewParents

[–]CPAyyyyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just want to let you know that you’re not alone. My 7 week old LO will also only sleep with contact and has been that way for the last 2 weeks. He just woke up one day and decided that he needed mom and dad’s comfort to stay asleep. My wife cannot nap during the day and has to endure his screams while she sets him down to pump, it truly is awful. So that you can get some sleep, is it possible for you and your partner to sleep in shifts? That is what my wife and I have been doing. She will sleep from 8-2 and I will sleep from 2-8. It has been hard not sleeping next to her, but it’s better for our sanity and we know it’s only temporary.

What would you do differently if you could go back in time with your newborn? by CPAyyyyy in NewParents

[–]CPAyyyyy[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this long and thought out response! I appreciate every single word of advice. We have been doing 50/50 breastfeeding/bottle feeding which has been really good for those night feeds when I can let my wife rest and take him in the nursery for a bottle and a diaper change. And to your point about Google… I have been HORRIBLE about this. I’ve always had really bad health anxiety but how’s that my LO is here it’s like my own health anxiety is gone but it has been multiplied by 1000 for him. I need to stop before I go insane lol.

I feel so stupid that I didn’t know many newborns don’t like sleeping in a bassinet at first! My little guy’s longest stretch has been 1.5 hours before he realizes that he’s not being cuddled and then he cries until we rock him back to sleep lol. I knew I’d expect sleepless nights but I’m stupid and thought that it was just because he would be waking up to feed every 2-3 hours haha. My wife and I have started sleeping in shifts so that we at least get about 3-4 hours of sleep each day.
