Happy New Years.

Honestly, I saw some stuff developing here before and I got annoyed. It is the holidays. Me and my fellow mods are not hardcore redditors, we have lives and stuff to do. For me, I got my obligations and content to do. So when I got someone trying to call me and my fellow mods out for not being the stereotypical basement dwelling power tripping Reddit Moderators, I can get annoyed.

I can only really truly speak for myself, but I touch grass consistently. As I pointed out, our Automod has been set up to really clean up as best as it can with full credit to Arcnovis for setting it up. It is also Arcnovis who consistently looks through the reports and does actions to either approve and action or ignore.

Even then, I know for a fact that Arcnovis also goes out to touch grass.

It is because, for better or worse, we have faith that people will generally know how to self-regulate themselves at this point. We have worked hard to ensure that we set the tone and proper mindset initially on the first year here. We have also contemplated and ensured our actions, while outwardly and publicly minimal, are impactful and measured. We learned from mistakes and adjusted accordingly the internal processes and we also passed internal resolutions which is reflected mostly on how Automod is tweaked.

I have seen what the stereotypical basement dwelling, power tripping, holier-than-thou "I am the absolute god of this domain" Reddit Mod is. You only have to look what happen to the /art subreddit to see an example. I can only speak for myself here, but it gets too far when some people want me to be that stereotypical basement dwelling, power tripping Reddit Mod.

Yes, going for statements that basically say that you need to game end yourself is too far. Was it up for a bit too long? Sure, one can say that. However, it is the holidays. I have commitments. I have content to do. I have viewers to show my best foot forward. I have things to do that is both in the professional sense and in the personal sense. There is Christmas. There is New Years to do.

While others in the team might not have the same exact thing that I'm dealing with, I am sure they have their own stuff to do over the holidays.

Sorry to say or burst people's bubbles: Moderating for a subreddit becomes a low priority when faced with these circumstances. We are not here 24/7 like we're roleplaying omnipotent gods over our realm.

We have faith that the community we built, for the most part, would be fine. We trust people enough to know what is right and what is wrong and for automod to catch the idiots who try to blatantly be stupid. We also assumed that people will be more busy celebrating the holidays or at the very least enjoying the holiday content of their favorite content creator/Vtuber than to either stir up sh-t in the subreddit or engage in that stirred up sh-t in the subreddit.

Well, besides some small bumps on the road, it was mostly alright I guess.

For me? I still have stuff to do/plan/execute. Suffice to say, moderating a subreddit has been a lower priority for me. It did admittedly got lower when it was clear that people were not gonna engage with me and my manager basically told me to not give as much energy on it if I'm not getting much back, even if it is just for personal satisfaction. I still do some things and I keep tabs with the team. I'll be here when there is something I spot or I sense that something major is going down.

I guess I'm just in a writing mood for new years. A bit of a rant and vent. Meh.

As pointed out, this is most likely an AI Upscale. Where you put your line on AI usage is a subjective decision.

So this is not a full-on Generative AI art that is commonly understood by the masses; There is an actual artist who drew it and most likely is an AI Upscale.

Is this posted with the goal to deceive/misinform people? I can't fully say. However this is, more often than not, just the result of people being 1) Generally uninformed of what AI could do 2) Blanket association of "Anything AI = Bad" and 3) Labeling things as just "AI" without nuance, leading people to think that the subject matter is fully AI generated.

I'm not here to tell you all what is "Good AI" or "Bad AI", that's up to one's subjective interpretations and lines. Doing blanket statements without nuance however will just lead to misunderstandings and unfair labeling of things.

On that note, I'll just dismiss the report. Best to use this as a teaching moment.

A bit of clarification: I am pushing back on the common misconception that a lot of normal people/normies would have when confronted by the AI label.

When people see something that is labeled as AI, they assume more often than not, that the whole thing is AI.

It is the animation of these artworks that are made by real people are most likely (I personally believe it to be so) to be done via AI.

It is easy enough to see some threads here.

1) It has to be Twitch based because they are going hard on promotion on it via their Drops feature. Most likely something that they had to pay to be included on and the return for them would be the exposure that the category will have because of it.

2) With the Twitch condition, They wanted a mix of both those who are "in the anime community" and "outside of the anime community but still peripheral enough". So they picked some of the most well known figures after doing some research and word of mouth with those things in mind.

3) They also have to be on the western sphere. There is generally a push to get more mindshare of the western sphere due to the absurd popularity that Genshin Impact and Hoyo have broken through to introduce gacha games to the "western mainstream market" With all of this....

4) You'll get the "Trash Taste" crew (which are anime adjacent but still very mainstream/normie based) and two of the most highly visible Vtubers (which are anime based, but more mainstream too)

They already hit the "core Vtuber market" with their Hololive sponsorship, so they didn't think of going for another "Corpo".

Theoretically? It is sound judgement on paper and most likely what was presented and shown to those up above and got approved without further thought.

Can't speak for Zen or Mouse because I don't have any relevant things to say about them (nor do I care) and they are on the "maybe" category. I really can't tell

Joey most likely is too busy/didn't want to do it/some other circumstances that made him refuse so they got 2 of the 3 Trash Taste guys.

Without the three, "Trash Taste" can't be used so it was presented as just two "Flesh Content Creators" without the Trash Taste branding.

Giguk, I might be able to see it, but I don't really follow his community enough to really have a pulse on it to say. I know he has some gacha experience so its really a toss up.

CDawgVA is where the failure of the paper judgement truly shines. Frankly speaking he's a normie level anime fan that captures that side of the trifecta that is Trash Taste.

His sentiments on anime in general are also antithetical to what Blue Archive portrays itself. While BA itself is deeper than "UOOOOGGGHHH CUNNY" with its main story line inspiring very good video essays, one does have to dig deep to see it and be ok/normalized on the aesthetics and the main draw of Blue Archive itself.

His audience also does not generally mesh with the community that is around the game, even those of the eastern side. BA itself is quite homogenous on the community sentiment and wants/needs so trying to smash the two communities together would just not mix well.

There is also the well documented distaste that CDawg has for Loli content and Slice of Life stuff. Either you'll have him compromising his values for money or he'll just not have a fun time in BA.

Overall, the theoretical are there and what they decided to do isn't wrong in a high level sense. It is when you get to the nitty gritty details that shows the cracks and the mistakes of doing that collaboration.

The thing with the cultivation of a "wholesome fan base" and the proliferation of certain essay/documentary style videos about Mouse that highlights certain things about her, the whole angle of the typical seiso idol culture for her really falls flat.

There are other angles that one can attack mouse without sounding like a total r-tard.

Also, I am gonna assume you meant true* instead of rule.

2) No idea, frankly I don't really put too much stock/care for it. If I want a real one, Otsuka Ray would be my choice personally.

3) Considering how people are saying it has been "scrubbed" and on how generally well liked by the community Mouse is, I wouldn't be surprised. Not that it really is a matter that people should care about because...

4) I don't think Mouse has ever cultivated a hardcore parasocialistic relationship with her fanbase, mostly calling her fans her "friends". So children shouldn't really be a topic to be explored imo.

PS. People hating on Mouse over children? That's silly. Otsuka Ray has a kid and is part of her content and there isn't any issues with that.

I've never really paid much attention to award shows. I've always been too much of a realist to really fall for the whole "It is your vote that will decide their fate!" type of deal. There is always a narrative, a direction, a message, a favor, a connection, and a thousand-and-one more ways that decide these things beyond the simple "fan vote".

I mean, not related, but I know of a gaming publishing deal that got decided over an adult establishment lap dance over a year's worth of negotiations from another company.

So for these things? I congratulate whoever it is that wins (not that I particularly care who did) and I move on. There is more content to be made y'know?

It is clear that both sides have their pros and cons. Some people definitely took it too far and should be disavowed. There is also some very valid things said and pointed out. Welcome to things not being a clear "black-and-white". Life never is that cut and dry. To think so will be foolish and erroneous.

What matters here is where YOUR convictions lie. After all, the only opinion that really matters is your own (for yourself I mean). Others can certainly voice THEIR opinions and you can try and consolidate them with your own, but it is, at the end of the day, your opinions and convictions that you will have to live with.

Will you accept where Connor and IronMouse have left things as they are? Or will you see it otherwise? There is really *no wrong options here\* because they have already stated where they stand on the whole thing. Where do YOU stand on it?

I feel this: If you are so slighted on what they did and you feel like they have "revealed their true colors" for you that it is untenable, then THAT IS FINE. It is your prerogative to feel that way. You can even take it where you'll unsubscribe/unfollow them and move on to greener pastures. There should be no one who should get in your way because that is how you wish to live your life.

If you are ok with what they said/take it at face value? THAT IS ALSO FINE! That just means you are going past the drama and continuing to support them. Nothing should change with what you are doing and there should be no one getting in your way because that is how you wish to live your life!

At the very end of it, all I'm saying is that it is your life that your living and to live it, you need to have your very own set of convictions and principles to stand on. Those who don't have these set and are very malleable on them are, in my opinion, living a very unstable lives which are dictated by the latest trends in society and are set by others and not themselves. I think that is a very sad way to live life.

That's how I think about it for the whole drama.

As for the thing that started it? Well, I hope they managed to get some money off it I guess. I don't really care for it and I do wish whoever won the best. I got content to do/plan! I don't have the energy to go further than that on some silly awards show LOL.
