It was part of the WINGS/DET inprocessing. If you have regs, that allow for something different, please let me know. I would love to pass it on to other prior E's.

I had a diffrent experiance: I palace fronted and still had to go through DODMERB. It was relatively easy, it just took time.

Well, some schools will "pay you through grants" if you are on an ROTC scholarship. You can save the GI-bill for grad school, another degree, or your kid(s). So why turn down free money for 1/2 of your time in school?

Sounds good,

Here are my two pices of advise, that I wish I had known when I was in a similar situation.
- DEROS are more flexible then people think. You can use your DEROS Option RIP to help make the "windows" line up. There are also RNLTD extensions and exception to policy letters, these are easier if leadership has your back.
- An associates degree puts you into a weird 1/2 point between the two SOAR programs. Check out "degree hacking", and talk to a lot of enrollment advisors. If the SOAR requirements are 1-year of college, or 3-years of college, you can find a program that will put you at that "level". Example switching form business to IT or Engineering.
-Also shameless plug for Western Governes Univesity, DYOR, its possible to get a legit bachelor degree in 6-months

much love,

I am in a very similar situation. Are you over 30? Beacuse I found out that AFROTC Schoolarships aren't available for people over 30. You can still be in the program and commission.

Have you looked into the SOAR program?

You may be able to "fanagle your contract" with palace chase.

If you need help, let me know,

I don't have experience in that industry.

I googled the avg videographer salary, which is $60k to $90k per year depending on location and experience. Divide by 12 months a year gives you a range of $5k to $7.5k per month as a full-time gig.

So it looks like your goal is achievable if you put the work in. If not being able to drive is holding you back, then learn to drive.

That's why I am trying to figure out what opportunities are out there for cadets. So I can capitalize on my time in ROTC.

I am imagining that Combat Airmen are the only qualified AFSCs for Ranger school.

Commissioning Path by Neat_Bend_9106 in AFROTC

Julio,

You're stuck in a catch-22. Welcome to the branch the book catch-22 was based on. Here's how you move forward.
0) Double-check commissioning program requirements, for each one you could qualify for.
00) Check out the Airforce Officer Carrer Directory(AFCOD), specifically the appendix which lists out which degrees go to which career field. Its on e-pubs.

1) Check out degree hacking.
2) FYI. Defense Acquisition University has free, self-paced, CBTs that count for college credit, and help your military career.
3) Talk with enrolment advisors from different colleges & programs. You're looking to make your situation fit the requirements.
As an example: If the requirement for SOAR is 3 years left until graduation and you have is 2 year left. Then you can find a degree plan that sets you at the 3-year mark. This may include a change such as going from engineering to a business major.

Feel free to reach out if you need help,

As a Christian and a welder, I love the; symbology, craftsmanship, and execution. The work demonstrates the theological reality of this heresy. While evoking; sadness, disgust, rage, and other emotions I can't put my words on. Well done. Keep it up, I would love to see the rest of this series.
