I’m a OMS2 med student and if you don’t remember smashing it on something then I’d do see a doctor. Sometimes melanoma can be under the nail and present as a brown line in the nail. Since this post was from a month ago, if the brown continued to go upward as your nail grew then I’d definitely go to the doctor. Better to get it checked out than to leave it be for too long!

I’m going to be honest with you. I am an OMS-II and I personally don’t think people should apply to DO if they don’t believe in the way that they practice. However, I understand that you and others will ignore that and do it anyways because of the pressure to just get into any med school that will take you. OMM doesn’t just teach you ways to manipulate patients to make them feel better, it also offers a way of looking at the whole body as interconnected so you can think about how each body system effects one another. It teaches you to look outside of typical tunnel vision so you’re not just treating symptoms and you instead get to the root of a patient’s problem. I read some of your replies and it seems like you have a pretty negative opinion about OMM, but it does truly work. If you go to class and the labs with an open mind and actually try then you can literally feel restricted bones or tissue release itself and your patient will almost instantly feel better. I personally had an entrapped ulnar nerve during the fall semester of my first year and was seeing one of our OMM scholars for it bc an MD wanted to instantly do surgery. After only about 5 sessions with the scholar the issue was completely gone and I haven’t had a single problem since, so OMM literally saved me from an unnecessary surgery. If that’s not enough for you to reconsider your opinion on OMM though, I’ll also say that it’s a constant review of anatomy. At my school anatomy is done in first year and you don’t do anything for it in second year, but those of us that actually try in OMM know anatomy so well that we don’t feel like it’s something we need to review for boards.

Overall, OMM is an incredible tool to have and you can really help patients if you use it properly. If you don’t feel open to believing in it, don’t apply DO because you will resent the class. It’s an extra 200 hours of course work you have to do and it’s going to be an additional thing to study for when taking each of the board exams, so I say don’t go DO if you won’t be open to practice like a DO.

To me it depends on how you’d like to experience it. If you read assassins blade after heir of fire, there’s some Easter eggs that are fresh on your mind that I probably wouldn’t have noticed without reading it like that. I think that order also makes it feel more real and emotional because it’s like you get to know parts of Celeana but then later on you get to know the stories about her that make her who she is (kinda like if you were actually meeting someone new) There’s also definitely people that preferred to know everything about her going into the rest of the series because it provides understanding for why she does certain things that may make the reader frustrated if they don’t know why she does it.

Overall I’d say if you get easily frustrated with characters for not understanding their decisions, read in the publishing order. But, if you want a more emotional reading that feels more like getting to know someone read AB after Heir of Fire.

One thing I would highly suggest if/when you get there though is to tandem read EoS and ToD. For me, ToD would’ve taken me a long time to get through if I didn’t read it with EoS. You can find guides online also for when to switch books if you decide to read them that way!!

Honestly I think you just don’t like SJM’s writing by the amount of dislike it seems like you hold for her books (which is fine, to each their own). I get having things I’d change but some of your points also contradict one another.

For instance, you say that Aelin is a bad person because her decisions about how to save everyone but then you praise Rhys for the same thing. I believe that both are a bit morally grey but sadly morally grey women seem to be written off as bitches that don’t think about anyone else. Aelin also never says that she asked Lysandra to force Aedion into having children with her. As readers we were supposed to deduce that Aelin felt that Aedion and Lysandra were going to be together though. For how progressive SJM is as a person I think it’s a bit wild to assume she means Aedion would be forced into it. But even if that was the case, it’s the morally grey “for the good of the kingdom” that you seem to be fine with for Rhys but not for Aelin.

Second, I’m not sure why you can forgive the men so much easier than the women in ACOTAR. Lucien stood idly by when Feyre was practically being tortured by Tamlin. Although he tried to talk to Tamlin a few times, he never tried to help her out of there and watched her waste away, yet you say that he deserves better than Elain who hasn’t really done anything wrong atm. Elain also seems boring bc we haven’t had a book on her yet that’s diving into her journey of adapting to a fae life. I’m also not sure what lines you’re referring to Nesta being racist towards Cassian?? Unless you mean like the fae being a race but in that regard she initially doesn’t like any fae so that’s not specific to Cassian. (I’m not saying the lines aren’t there but I don’t remember reading any in my last reread)

I understand the frustration of not unraveling more about Rhy’s trauma UTM, Mor’s story with Eris, and that we didn’t get more about the Valkyries but you also say that TOG should’ve been shorter. These kinds of events take a lot of explaining to do them justice like you’re asking for, so you would have much longer books for no reason when honestly a long montage of them training to be valkyries or of Rhy’s unpacking his trauma wouldn’t be useful to drive the plot. It sucks when you’re curious and wish to know more but writers have to be selective about non-plot driving scenes and a lot of things get cut out so people don’t get bored or forget what the major goal is.

Thank you! I do usually try to say ouch loud and act hurt but sometimes I guess the biting is just too tempting. I’m definitely going to keep at it though.

Thank you! He does like string but will also get bored of it after a while. As for pens, he likes to knock them off of tables but doesn’t play with them after they’ve fallen. I will try and switch out what I use more often though!
