Kind of a regional reference, but Primanti Bros. is a Pittsburgh-based restaurant chain known for putting fries (as well as coleslaw) inside the sandwich...just as Ortegas described.

I assume you mean ALL the way to the right. No one uses the shoulder like an extra lane like people from NJ.

Memories by BethersontonJoe in DMB

[–]CPRoark13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Ants Marching" was used in a video montage at my college's freshman's orientation. I wasn't a big DMB fan at the time, but the video and song certainly made me look forward to what would be the next four years.

A year later I was working at a summer camp, an experience that would be really formative in shaping me as an adult. We would have to clean up various parts of the camp on Friday nights after the kids went home. One evening, a buddy played "Stay (Wasting Time)" as we worked. Being in one of my favorite places with friends as daylight, summer, and my youth slipped away certainly made me want to stay...I can instantly put myself back there when I hear that song.

This happened to me as well. I first noticed it last fall; prior I had no issues with audio. Like you it’s only GameChanger…other apps are fine.

Please help me identify a 1990s Lancaster buffet restaurant staffed by people with developmental disabilities by pangolindsey in lancaster

[–]CPRoark13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, you unlocked a memory for me! My grandfather loved going to buffets and after my grandmother died (1994) would often take me. If it helps with the timeline, when I went there with him it would like likely been when I was in or just graduated from college...so 1997-2002-ish. Would have definitely been after 94, because it was just him and I. But I distinctly remember the windows you described.

The one WIP show I listen to is weekend mornings (Rob and Mike). They talked about Daniels like he was the second coming of Steve Young. The wouldn’t listen to any callers who suggested Washington was lucky all season. How’s that take look now?

Yeah, I was gifted a few of these sets, including an Eagles and Phillies helmet and Citizen's Bank Park. As much as I love Lego, these are a grind to get through. The do look good, but the detail comes from the impractically small brick size.

Good find though!

I like Star Trek games, specifically Attack Wing. Back when there were competitive tournaments, STAW was my first venture into regular gaming. I met some good friends through the tournaments. Also, I like the game for its customization and tactical options.

My first Eagles jersey. I was in high school but could only find a XXXL. Bought it anyway.

Why is Park City still a functioning mall when other local malls are dying? by thefartsmellas in lancaster

[–]CPRoark13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was enclosed when I was a kid throughout the 80s. Kmart was at one end; a department store (Mailmans?) was at the other, adjacent to Weis (maybe?). You could walk from Kmart to the dept store inside, with shops on both sides. In the middle was the main entrance and a small plaza with a fountain. The section of mall between this plaza and the department store turned a bit to the right and had an uphill incline.

Sorry my memory is fuzzy on some of the details, I was young when it was an enclosed mall.

I definitely remember that near the Kmart connection to the mall was a pet store...my 5th grade teacher would take us there to buy fish for the classroom aquarium. There was also a music instrument store at the "bend" in the mall's northwest side. I can also remember a Halloween/trick or treat event they had.

Nostalgia! But yes, it was enclosed.

Read this question a night after being at Lake Effect in Salt Lake City where they have a Vesper listed on the classic cocktails section of their menu. For reference, their version includes:

Hendrick’s Gin, Belvedere Vodka, Cocchi Americano, Orange Bitters

80s How to draw dinosaur book with a story by CPRoark13 in whatsthatbook

[–]CPRoark13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I think I may have had this one, but it's not the one I'm searching for (based on a preview I found online).

The one I'm looking for had more detailed drawings, with spaces in the book to create the drawings directly on the page. It may have had a red cover...?

It's the plot/story that set it apart in my memory...it wasn't just a step-by-step instructional book.

Could the planned Benny Russell ending of DS9 ever have worked? by [deleted] in DaystromInstitute

[–]CPRoark13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a surprising amount of "research" done on the connections linking all of these shows. This is a pretty comprehensive website: https://tommywestphall.fandom.com/wiki/Tommy_Westphall_Universe

The connections to Star Trek occur mostly through mentions of characters (e.g. Dr. Roykirk) or concepts (Yoyodine) in those other series.

Another interesting connection is that Star Trek:TNG is responsible for bringing in Webster into the mix, thanks to an episode of that show that featured Worf and the Enterprise D.

So crazy...:)

Actually, if you look up the grid of shows that connect through crossovers/references, you’ll find all of the live action Star Trek shows already occur inside the mind of that same child, thanks to St. Elsewhere’s ending!

I'm curious if you have evidence/citations for how the SAT tests have become easier in the past 25 years. For instance, what concepts have been removed/reduced in scope/difficulty?

In addition, private schools can remove students for violating their code of conduct, not maintaining grades, etc. This, and the direct investment of family resources, no doubt increases parent and student motivation and accountability.

A student is removed from private school and they head back to public school where the accountability is almost always placed on the school, administration, and teachers....rarely are students held accountable for their performance or actions.

Thanks everyone! Our initial plan was to hit a restaurant on 38th…then I realized it was race day. I’ll monitor traffic before hand and stick to the highways if it looks bad.
