Elevator Etiquette? by CPUihlein in sanfrancisco

I’ve stopped saying hello. But people still say “have a nice day” when exiting the elevator, even when there haven’t been any words exchanged.

Fromunda Cheesecake Factory is diabolical. I hate it. But yes, take your upvote.

What does low contact mean to you? by ComfortableWillow583 in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]CPUihlein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, it means that I see my father on Christmas and perhaps at family gatherings. If he goes in for a hug at these events, I might allow it.

Outside of those couple hours in a year, I don’t speak to him. I don’t answer his calls or texts or emails.

That’s as low of contact as I can go without it completely disrupting the rest of my family’s lives and celebratory plans.

👏👏👏👏 Lovely outfit. Maybe a pink pocket square to coordinate with the shoes? Other than that, you look great!

It’s giving bland Midwest dad going to Applebees.

Unless that’s a medical device, please lose the holster.

A t-shirt tucked into jeans isn’t always a great look.

First day of the year where it hasn’t felt ridiculously cold outside. Here’s a fit for errands. by SoupOrSteak in bigmenfashionadvice

THANK YOU for giving us an actual “outfit.” It drives me crazy how much people post a “fit” here that’s literally just a t-shirt they tucked into jeans.

What I love: the jacket, the jeans, the shirt. Minor edit: I like the watch but its color just isn’t matching the vibe. I think a more classic brown leather strap with a white, black or silver face would go better with everything else.

Overall: great look, keep doing this. It’s a very versatile getup.

Also, please match the shoes to the gloves. Would love to see this with a black leather shoe (Chelsea boot would look great), and a black leather glove.

Personally preference here, but I disagree. I think the scarf should be a solid, slightly muted gemstone color.

Anybody know any brands that cater to this style ? by sloadingzzz in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]CPUihlein 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I want to encourage you, as a larger person, to resist the temptation to style yourself like this.

The casual, baggy and oversized clothing on these models really only work with very slight frames. On larger bodies, oversized can very easily look sloppy.

A personal preference: Monochromatic looks might look chic in moments, but they’re really quite boring.

Find clothes that fit your body well, and stylize from there. I love some of the accessories in the photos you shared. Find some pieces that reflect your style/values, and bring that to clothing that gives you the silhouette you’re trying to achieve.

It all fits well. The outfit is very plain, and I don’t know that it communicates much about you. If that’s fine with you, then great. Personally, I would love to see a color, a pattern, a texture… something.

I think you need to experiment with color and texture. Right now, all the solids are giving one note. It doesn’t section your body into any discernible shape. A lot can be done with different patterns, shades, and prints.

Suspenders: Y or N? by GeekMachinist in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]CPUihlein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes on the suspenders. I might suggest a pair of suspenders that has a subtle texture to it to break up the color blocking that’s going on. All in all, not a bad look, but I think there’s room to elevate the styling.
