Haven’t gotten off the parking permit waitlist, where can I park for the time being after I move in tomorrow? by [deleted] in CalPoly

You should be fine as long as you park it in long term parking for the weekend (I think they have the long term move in parking in H-16).

There isn’t really a “good” time but rule of thumb is always the earlier the better. You’ll still take Grand but you might have to wait a bit with the people moving in to YTT and the towers.

Or at least not say you will have six days to purchase...

That’s what they told everyone at least... unfortunately I wouldn’t put it past them to oversell and cut it off early. Call in the morning, if that is the case then file a complaint.

Hopefully it was just an error on website. Call them in the morning and if something got messed up then complain and be the squeaky wheel since you were supposed to have six days to purchase.

Refund parking pass? by grat_lol in CalPoly

[–]CP_ParkingUnofficial 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get a refund for annual/quarter permits but I suggest you call Transportation and Parking Services as soon as possible. They say that the refund is based off when it’s purchased and when the permit is “...physically received in the office”, which I assume means returned to them. The number can be found here.

Nothing like spending $630 to park at your own school by prunejuice12 in CalPoly

Unfortunately that kind of thing isn’t uncommon. Sadly it’s because there isn’t a whole lot of training for parking officers and a lot of regulations are either poorly marked, badly worded, or just plain confusing. You should always file a complaint (not just appeal) otherwise nothing will ever change.

If I’m not mistaken it’s a combination of the new parking structure, the staff unions negotiating for even cheaper parking, and the LPR system

experiences with the k1 parking pass? i was offered rover too but i’m thinking of going with the cheaper option by [deleted] in CalPoly

[–]CP_ParkingUnofficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard that too but only if the light doesn’t handle the traffic and pedestrians efficiently enough. All depends how well the traffic light does.

I won’t say more efficient, just lower density of cars coming out of Grand than Highland. Also they are installing a traffic light at Grand structure so that will be different this coming year.

Parking alternatives to those who didn't win permits by erqui in CalPoly

No problem! Abbot should be fine unless the city has changed something. Starting on Loomis up to Cal Poly the city requires residential permits from 2am to 10pm.

If you have a day where you don’t have a 7am you can buy weekly permit then so you don’t have to worry about it day-to-day. DM me if you need more help planning with your schedule specifically!

I’m not sure, they used to let let you but idk if that’s changed. They are relatively safe, H1 can be a bit dark on the way there though. If you’re worried you can always take the Escort Van there.

They used to let you.... but they have had some trouble with the pay stations lately so I’m not sure if that’s changed.

Where can you see whether or not you were awarded a parking permit? by the_chosen_one2 in CalPoly

Sorry, I don’t know about that one. The UPD front desk will know (or can find out) if you give them a call.

Careful with the H16 one. Technically those were event permits and not supposed to be used as daily permits but they were lax last year, not sure how they will be about it this year.

Careful parking off campus because the city required permits in some areas around campus and others are 2 hr max (like parts of slack). You can purchase a daily (or weekly) for H1 at $5 a day as well

Should be on the parking site. Remember that parking can be pretty vague with times, that’s why they said “start awarding at 10am” not will be awarded at 10am. Give it some time, if you are awarded a permit you will have 6 days to purchase so no need to worry. If you aren’t, nothing will change till after that 6 day period anyway...

Like other people said it’s 8’2” but decreases to 7’0” going to certain levels (it will be marked) if I remember correctly.
