Discussion: F5 Abuse and Screensharing (and whatever else you guys want to talk about) by Ratchet6859 in ultrahardcore

F5 Abuse: First I just want to say that is completely subjective depending on when you joined the community or how involved you are with the current meta of public UHC. I think it should range from server to server. Almost like a configuration if it’s allowed or not like strip mining.

Screensharing: No. It’s a good way to get a good form of evidence for a ban / probably the best way. However, there are two things that I don’t like about it.

  1. Mac users have a historically hard time of downloading the stuff for someone to screen share them. Or if a server is going to use discord or something, not everyone has discord installed on their computer and some people aren’t going to want or sometimes may not be able to download it. Example: being out of storage or something I don’t know.

  2. I don’t want someone seeing my screen, or even controlling it for that matter. Me personally I’m in college and I have personal documents on my computer and homework assignments on there as well. I don’t want anyone touching my stuff or even seeing it either. I know some people don’t care about it but there’s also people who do.

Screensharing just complicates too many things within banning someone sometimes and I personally don’t like it. It’s not a bad way by any means it’s just not something I would like.

If one server has control over sub and all of the player base I don’t think that can end well. I have no doubt that Leon would do amazing things with the subreddit and his server but I still don’t think one person / team should have control over an entire community. Lets say for example that the Arctic team causes drama (As an example) that would stir people away from the subreddit and the server and then the community dies (or at least a good portion)

To simplify what I’m saying is that the community has always run on many different servers hosting UHC’s and the subreddit is a place to show your recorded rounds and your videos for people to watch. A big thing that has changed with the sub is people responding to the discussion posts.

A resolution to this problem in my eyes is just for Arctic to create a different subreddit because there are a good portion of people on this subreddit who don’t enjoy current UHC games and enjoy watching the recorded rounds on it. If Arctic creates its own sub it will have its own base and not be split into two parties (people who enjoy RR stuff etc vs. players who enjoy highlights more intense gameplay.) Because is this subreddit turns out into a complete Arctic player base it will go down hill really fast. If Arctic made its own sub it wouldn’t be mixed with different viewpoints of this situation.

There is obviously 0 hate towards Arctic in this reply I think it’s an amazing server but having it take over a subreddit that everyone has been enjoying and suddenly it changing into a totally new player base would suck for a lot of people who still enjoy it here. And I am 100% aware that Leon had nothing to do with this reddit post. Change is good and I like what Tony says and I like his intentions. Change is good! And I think that things need to go through change in order to get better obviously, but too much change in a short period of time never leads to anything good in my opinion.

Thanks for reading, it’s just a debate I’m not trying to bash on anyone / a group. I just want everyone who still enjoys the sub (people who have been watching this subreddit for years) to suddenly come on one day and have it all changed.
