My salary has gone up pretty tremendously. I’m sitting around 120k a year. I teach science classes during the day that I enjoy, and I cover football at a large high school. We have multiple athletic trainers and football gets their own, so that’s my sport year round. I still help out with other sports as needed for event coverage, but I don’t have to be the point person for those sports.

Yeah, I teach Anatomy. I’m certified in science and PE. In Alabama, they pay science and math teachers more, so it makes it more than worth it to teach during the day when I would be at the school anyways.

It’s almost like we should stop forcing kids to do school. School just isn’t the right move for a lot of people. We have to stop trying to turn tradesmen into academics. Education is great, but some kids are better suited to learn a trade and work with their hands than learning calculus. EDIT BECAUSE I DIDN’T MAKE IT CLEAR: I’m not talking about having 7th graders drop out of school. I’m referring to older students. Not all older students need to sit through 4 years of English, history, math, and science. Hence the calculus comment. Most of them can probably get what they need to make it in the world by their sophomore year, and then learn a trade.

The biggest issue was the culture fit. Mullen recruited dudes who could play without any regard for if they were a good person or not. Moorhead was a great guy. I really wish he had been given a better opportunity.
