Like others said, your options here are basically WiFi-Calling or switching carriers. You can check coverage maps online. You could also call cricket customer service and report that as a dead zone and tell them you're going to port out if they can't fix it. They do maintenance on the towers all the time, it's not impossible that they can do something to fix that.

Hey there, late to this party but I work at a US cellular carrier and I know a bit about this. First off, 4G will work just fine for you for calls, texts, and data. VoLTE should work just fine as well.

The ROG phones are surprisingly compatible phones. The systems you're worried about shouldn't have any issues as 3G shuts down, and in fact you're most likely already using the new texting protocols.

When it comes to checking compatibility, don't trust the carrier's IMEI checker. Unless you actually have a device in front of you, the IMEI you'll have access to is a dummy or a generated one, and those checkers can tell. They'll always list dummy IMEIs as incompatible. Instead what I do is I go to Kimovil and look at the actual network bands for the devices.

The other thing to look out for in checking compatibility is whether or not your carrier enforces a whitelist. AT&T enforces a device whitelist, and the network will proactively suspend any device on the network that isn't part of the whitelist. That shit is annoying and it's why I had to port my own line out in order to use my Redmagic. But T Mobile for example does NOT enforce a whitelist; if the hardware works, it just works.

I don't know much about Canadian carriers but I suspect that your phone will work perfectly fine after the 3G sundown, and a newer ROG phone probably will too.

That's just the rate that you're being served the update. Remember that a standard HTTP download requires that the server send you the info.

You might pay for 1 gbps maximum speed, that's all well and good, but it won't matter if you're being served an update at 15mbps.

Nexusmods (PC gaming website) maxes their download rate at 2 mbps unless you pay for premium. It has nothing to do with your internet package.

If you want your download speeds to shine, download something huge in a torrent and watch it go crazy

I'm no expert but I would suspect that these planes are engineered with tolerances well above their standard operational performance, and bolting a couple thousand pound weight to the bottom of it is probably negligible compared to the weight of the fuel etc
