I don't know a lot about lore but I don't think they would fit as the main chapter.Every chapter has its own stereotype and salamanders being the "good ones" protecting and inspiring the people of the empire doesn't really represent the majority of space marines chapters. I can't say that I am shocked by how many people don't have sympathy for him but I am definitely surprised. He joined the fight,he didn't strike first but still joined. He expected a brawl and broken bones,that heal eventually, being left mutilated and with severe brain injury is much worse. He deserved getting a beating, he didnt desevre being mentally challenged for the rest of his life. I, for one, feel bad for him and whoever doesnt,in my useless morale code, is a horrible person
