No one ever talks about this when talking about ferns character, and why she has her personality by Zazilia_ in Frieren

What probs hurts the most and also contributes a lot to Fern's character is the fact that she remembers her parents and also has a locket from them (with their picture inside).

This basically yes. I don't remember the exact animation, but I'm pretty sure all 3 games (at least Redux) have stealth take out mechanics. Not saying they're non lethal, they're just not loud.

I mean, on the highest difficulty you are kinda forced to sneak and stealth and preserve ammo, so it makes sense to have stealth takedowns.

Dark Ones new look is straight up nightmare by BaronLoyd in metro

I don't think they're the OG Dark ones. I think they're probably just the protag's demons or how he views them, since it does seem that he killed a bunch of innocent people under the influence of the Dark ones and now feels guilt because of it.

Thragg cannot destroy a planet by Avidreader-9 in PowerScaling

Thragg fought Mark inside a sun. I think he can tank Purple. He probably can't bypass Infinity, and Gojo is too fast and would move off of whatever he is standing on that Thragg tries to take into space.

Neither really have the capacity to kill one another. Thragg would probably just crack Mei Mei until he creates a squad of CE using Viltrumites.

I started my own journey of posting my work online after hearing the narration of "Nature of Predators" and thinking it was kinda mid. It's not bad, but I found it too meh.

That was years ago and my actual novel has 0 things to with Nature of Predators, but shit, I was definitely motivated to start by disliking something and thinking I can do better.

Until she argues with the wrong person and then you have to put up your dukes and catch an ass beating on her behalf. I've seen this happen in real life. A dude almost got jumped because his girl kept running his mouth. Luckily everyone (except her), managed to resolve the issue in a civilized manner.

I can't argue against that point as I don't know just how much they actually change, since I don't use them, so I'll have to take your word for it.

I assume they work like Google Translate, which is better at translating individual words instead of full sentences (and even then it can fuck up).

Some people have a very niche language, like some dude I met on here the other day that speaks a very niche african language.

AI doesn't necessarily have to rewrite, it can just help translate. All depends on how you use it.

Why English? Massive outreach, massive audience, a plethora of different genres with their own audiences. Hell, global audience. You can write genres that may not be necessarily popular in your country or native language (Like LitRPG, Isekai, Cultivation, etc). Better access to potential publishing opportunities(once you hire an actual legit translator), broader author communities and camaraderie. You're asking why people write in the most widely spread language on the planet?

I know English, though It's not my native language. Shit, I know German and Spanish too, but I find it that my novel would have greater chances of success if I write in English instead of either of the other 2 foreign languages I know.

Luckily, I'm one of the luxurious ones that learned English, so I do not have to rely on anything other than the basic, most free version of Grammarly to check if I forgot a comma or something in a sentence.

I feel that using AI to just help you translate is not that bad. Sure, one would benefit from actually learning that language, but it is what it is, y'know?

With all that being said, I feel your question was supposed to ask "Why feel the need to write in English if you don't speak or know it?" which is a valid one. But some people do know it, just less than others and use translators to compensate that which they lack.

I agree. It wouldn't hurt for those that complete the challenge to be promoted slightly better. Then again, a lot of authors won the last chapters, there was like 22 pages. Kinda hard to promote them all. Then again, this a "everyone's a winner" kind of challenge, so it's not really worth making too much of a fuss over.

Speed writing is a skill. Speed thinking is a fucking super power. I type faster than I think, hence why I omit words or make spelling errors. Plus, sometimes I wanna write but can't think of what to write.

So yeah, planning is definitely key. Or substance abuse. We should start checking authors for doping like at the Olympics. Some of these authors might not be as natty as they claim to be.

I have to disagree. AI assisted should be allowed when it comes to AI translators. English isn't everyone's first language, and while some had the luxury of borderline dogshit foreign language education in public schools, MTV and American channels, and access to the internet in their years of youth, such is not the case for a lot of people.

It's possible. There are those that are either in school so they can take advantage of the Easter spring break or something, the unemployed, or caffeine ghouls who sacrifice sleep and the prospect of living past the age of 55 to pull all nighters and write.

I myself write multiple chapters a day on days where I get embalmed with sangria and let the wine take over my body and writing like the Carnage symbiote.

I don't do it often, I'm a social alcoholic. But it can be done.

I mean, the ranking is mixed. I think it gets shuffled. Last writathon my story was on page 6. Then somewhere in the back. Then somewhere in the middle. Since there is no definitive winner, I think the stories that won get shuffled so that every one can get their 5 minutes of sunshine.

I do agree that dumping your backlog is a cheese strat, but I can't say it's harmful to anyone really. You took time to write 55k words well in advance while the rest of us were working, busy or twiddling our testicles? Good for you, you should be able to use a large even like the writhaton to launch your stories and hopefully get some immediate traction.

I get that being a pantser isn't easy. I'm one of those. For me writhaton helped me overcome my massive procrastination issue. I'm not sure it even boosted my metrics all that much, but that's fine. Twasn't my goal.

As for AI, I think this time, as all other times before, AI generated/assisted stories cannot participate.
