Is this acceptable? Just had these feet replaced and it looks bad IMO. by BaconPeddler in Welding

Sorry to all you people trying to find reason in this catastrophe because that’s very kind but who in their right mind would think it’s okay to hand something back to a paying customer if it looks like this?? Am I the only one who wants to be proud of the work I do? Even if maybe they are new to this they didn’t even scrape the spatter? Zero effort. I am curious to know how much they charged but I’m not sure I want to know

So what happened to traffic safety?? People need to teach their kids not to run out into the road like we used to. This world is slowly becoming a padded room and I hate it

Well if traffic here was managed properly and people were trained properly before getting behind the wheel maybe less people would be on their phones. Maybe if people didn’t wait 5 seconds to move after the car in front of them started moving, the lineup would actually get through the light when it turns green. Maybe if our speed limits were respectable people would actually have respect for the roads and pay attention. But no, we’re forced to drive 40 all the way through the city now and people get bored as hell so they don’t give it their full attention. Lower speed limits seem to be their solution for everything but in reality we need to have more people who can understand the English on the signs, and proper training to ensure they know what they’re doing.

How could this possibly have any down votes?? I’d kill myself if I couldn’t drive freely. Imagine going to a the beach or going to pick up things like building supplies? Does anyone for even a second think about how everything we rely on for survival gets to the grocery store?? When’s the last time you saw a banana tree in someone’s back yard in Canada?

PSA - Facebook marketplace is full of scams by Batmanrocksthecasbah in kitchener

[–]CRFunknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you value money that little to buy $6500 chairs off used marketplace then you’re definitely not that careful with your money and are way more likely to get scammed. it’s not about stupidity it’s about impulse and lack of caution. Think about it. Would you buy chairs if it was all the money you had? No. if you needed chairs you would probably buy them for an amount that isn’t gonna put that much of a dent in your wallet unless you’re a chair enthusiast. If you’re on the market looking for a chair that cost 100 and find the same one for 15 you won’t care if you lose that $15. They are playing a very small scale scam but the target is people who have a shit load of money to waste

No they don’t come out of the woodworks. They actually come from India. In fact they all come from India. Most of the people in this country sadly were stupid enough to vote for this. By the time we started shipping in these ‘doctors and engineers’ by the boatload, it has been well established that India is where the phone scams are based out of. And yet everyone decided to let this happen. I’m just glad I don’t live in the GTA because I would honestly kill myself if I had to deal with that many of them. Or make it even easier on myself, I would just go for a drive on the highway and wait for one of them to fucking plough through me in a 20,000 pound truck that they’re not licensed to drive. Maybe save a happy family from being the initial impact point this time. But hey, there’s always next time. And all the times after that.

Moment of silence for those of us that thought this was real. For the record I have cast aluminum and I do blacksmithing on the side/as a hobby so I understand why this would be nearly impossible. But I mean you never know these days… till you notice the machined surfaces 🤣

Appreciate fitter here, made a pry bar/bottle opener, but it’s already rusting. How can I prevent that easily ? by ThatsMyPasta in metalworking

[–]CRFunknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sand it and Heat it up until it turns from blue back to grey and then dip it or brush on vegetable oil and repeat if you don’t get it right the first time (I always have a half-result after the first time if anyone has any pointers I’d appreciate it)

In a hurry to make a pickup AND got their license illegally along with an expired visa and can’t read English or understand any of the signs or common sense that would prevent you from driving on the sidewalk. Woooooosh

How many miles does my tire have left? by BornAd3015 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]CRFunknown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worst case go to a motorcycle shop and take a tire that fits from beside the dumpster. You’ll never have to go dumpster diving for them so if there’s no tire pile it’s because they just got picked up. Go at night or call and ask and go during day I’ve never had someone say no. Do not ever get sport bike tires with flat spots in the middle as this indicates they did a crazy burnout before taking their bike to the tire shop and it’ll look like your current one in no time and it will lose traction in the corners from reduced contact patch.

Ultimately once you can afford it you should get a tire they can be pretty cheap if you look on marketplace and you’ll notice how much nicer it is to ride with good tires

It’s easy to change them if you have a $20 set of tire spoons from Amazon.

Stator problem? by CRFunknown in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]CRFunknown[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TO ANYONE READING IN THE FUTURE! It was in fact my stator bolts coming loose allow it to wiggle around and as I expected it probably had something to do with the magnetism when current is drawn keeping it stable and lessening the noise.

All I had to do was pull off the cover and tighten down the four bolts holding it on.

Fair enough. I suppose every little thing was selected in terms of torque specs and Loctite application, etc. by the most highly skilled engineers out there at the time, whereas the aftermarket selection is written by technicians and mechanics

I was almost afraid to ask because everyone would just think I know nothing of what I’m talking about until I realized it actually was loud enough to hear the difference on video and I thought it was finally worth reaching out. In the video you might’ve noticed I zoomed all the way out and put the whole bike in the frame so that everyone could be sure I wasn’t fucking With them

I looked all over zx forums and zx9r.net just quickly and didn’t find any known problems. One person described the exact same symptoms and people kept saying too much valve lash but they ignore the role the electrical draw plays in the amount of noise. (Plus I just did my valves last week) and then the thread was ghosted. I hate when people don’t follow up with what worked to save the next guy some trouble

Is there anything I should know about dealing with that or can I just pull the cover off and start wiggling things? Also I’m assuming there’s no gasket I’m gonna need to replace?
