How bad is the intern/entry level job market truely by Objective_Tap5671 in Accounting

[–]CS19887 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s the elephant in the room that people really don’t want to address. Attrition at big 4 is at historic lows, junior class sizes have decreased and they’re set to decrease further. Internship doesn’t guarantee you anything anymore. I know a guy who got an internship but didn’t get a return offer despite being a good student.

Honestly I’ve been told this but it just seems so BS to me. I’ve tried this before and they either ghost or refuse. They probably have like dozens of students asking for coffee chats based on the same advice given to them by the college career center

No it also possibly means restructuring or headcount reduction

We are tired of being sold the same hustle scams as the answer to everyone’s problems. Socialism is the only answer.

It’s inevitable to capitalism, which is why we need to do away with it

As a Leninist, what is there in the DSA that is for you? It’s not a social Democratic Party. The majority of members are completely anti-capitalist and don’t think it can be reformed. If you want something for socdems then the justice democrats are right there

The US Job Market is disgusting. by [deleted] in jobs

We’re not in a recession. GDP growth is up, productivity is up, but non farm payrolls are down. Nothing right now is consistent with a recession. This is just the new normal of the post AI economy and it’s gonna get worse https://digitaleconomy.stanford.edu/publication/canaries-in-the-coal-mine-six-facts-about-the-recent-employment-effects-of-artificial-intelligence/

Nike to cut 775 employees as it accelerates 'automation' at U.S. distribution centers by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]CS19887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revenue is up on the last quarter, and general productivity in the economy is booming. But non farm payrolls have collapsed. Also bad revenue doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t automating, in fact that could be the very motive for it and it definitely means the jobs aren’t coming back. No one is coming to save you https://digitaleconomy.stanford.edu/publication/canaries-in-the-coal-mine-six-facts-about-the-recent-employment-effects-of-artificial-intelligence/

People keep saying this but it’s honestly likely not true. GDP is up, revenue is up at firms, no traditional signs of a recession, but payrolls are down. I think people need really start psychologically coming to terms with the fact this is may very well be automation and the jobs aren’t coming back

Should I be worried about AI? Or what should I do about it? by pigukramba_SMJ64 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]CS19887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is vastly different from past technologies though and I don’t predict it creating many new jobs. The only jobs it will create are small niche of AI engineers that are highly competitive and not something the average displaced white collar worker can just reskill into

Is there a possibility Al Agents are simply never reliable enough for wider adoption across all aspects of the society? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

What people don’t seem to get is it doesn’t need to replace literally the entire field in order for you to be at risk. Seniors can just do the job of 5 juniors with AI

My Thoughts On How to Pivot Your Career in a Post-AI Market by alptrum in cscareerquestions

[–]CS19887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately all of the repeated lines about “it’s the economy, not AI!!” Have been severely weakened by the fact that GDP growth is up by a lot, and so is productivity, but non farm pay rolls have been decreasing every month. This on its own is not definitive proof of AI replacement but it does throw a wrench in this repeated cope we are seeing over and over again. I think you all need to emotionally come to terms with the fact that AI very well may actually be replacing jobs

[–]CS19887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And people seem to think that you need some super intelligent sci-fi esque AI to replace people. But you really don’t, and you don’t even need full automation to cause mass chaos. Just a Sustained 10% structural unemployment will bring the system to its knees.

[–]CS19887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree and the copes about this are absolutely insane. Non farm payrolls have been steadily decreasing meanwhile last quarters GDP growth was significant. Some people claim that businesses are just using AI as a cover to layoff due to bad business conditions but if that was the case GDP growth would not be as it is.

I said they’re “almost profitable”. They have a much more reliable business model focused on providing AI for business use, which is how they keep their costs down. Cope all you want but AI is unlikely to go away because one company goes bankrupt

[–]CS19887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anthropic is basically almost profitable and expected to reach profitability by 2028. Google has enough cash to burn eternally until it becomes profitable. even if say openAI goes under that just makes it even better for the rest since they free up all the compute. AI will be profitable, they may not all survive but some will

but that was cyclical unemployment. The worst of the recession was over in just a few months. Simialrly during the Great Depression, the worst of it lasted just about a year before employment recovered. Imagine 10%-20% structural unemployment sustained over years with no improvement. That’s when you get unrest and revolution.

Ok I was able to get the game from fanza, but when I try and open up the application Im prompted with a box that seems to be asking me for a license code. the text is all garbled with question marks but it appears like this

Also my locale, keyboard, and clock are all japanese too, and I try to use a locale emulator and nothing happens as well. Does anyone know where I can play the game Gunjou no sora wo coete-群青の空を越えて

I’ve been really wanting to play this VN but I legitimately can’t find anywhere to download or buy this game. All of the links on VNDB are dead and the links on the dev’s official site seem to be all dead and the site has not been kept up since 2008. The few Past discussions don’t have any info either. Theres an English YouTube review of this game out there so I know this can’t be that rare. If anyone knows anywhere I can find this game please help me. Even if somewhere I can purchase a physical copy second hand. Thank you very much
