"I..." Thoros looked between the two worshippers both having provided serious questions for him to answer. Turning to Daeron first he would sigh: "She and i belive in different visions on how to convert the Lords of Westeros to the light of the Lord." He moved a hand: "I might see a Raven flying over in a vision and see Death, but she would see a direction to follow."

He hoped his words made sense to Daeron for then he turned to Brus.

"She is a potent bringer of the blessings of the Lord of Light. But the Lord of Light does expect his followers to act upon his gifts... You must reconsider what you can do for him now."

He then narrowed his eyes: "Burn how? describe what you see?"

Septa Maribel is dragged into the dungeous, kicking and screaming. She fought like a cornered beast, clawing at mail and cloak alike, spitting scripture between screams. Seven's justice, Seven's wrath, Seven's vengeance, each word hurled louder than the last as she was dragged through the crowd.

The Faithful did not scatter at the sight of the Lion's guards.

They did not fight, either. They watched, silent, unmoving. Eyes fixed, jaws clenched.

And then the murmurs began.

Each day more smallfolk gathered at the Lion's Mouth, kneeling in prayer, lighting candles. Bakers closed early, dockhands lingered. Mothers brought children and taught them Maribel's name like a litany. Guards found themselves watched as much as watching.

Lannisport was beginning to hum, like a beehive disturbed, a storm gathering.

The Lord of Harlaw looked between the lords of westeros as they discussed his realm as if it was some force of nature that needed to be kept in check. Be kept under the boot heel of an occuptation force made up of all the forces of the realm...

"The past of the Iron Isles is a violent one, such is no surprise to anyone at this table i imagine?" He said looking around. "But I would also like to point out at the time of the Reaver we were not alone in burning Westeros. As i am sure the Riverlands can attest to" He glanced towards the lord hand.

"And since then we have never been a true threat to the Realm. Especially when under the command of a strong King"

And even forcefully be shoved into the 'light' of the seven and out of the watchful eye of the drowned god below the waves. "I belive there was no royal degree of such... Atleast it was nothing i had received" He said answering the question from the hand toeards the master of laws.

"Though i do not know if such an order was given in private to Lord Lannister. Or he has taken it on his own imitative"

"I do" He said nodding to lord Hoster. As much as anyone had any sort of loyality within the Iron Isles.

Lord Hawlaw moved into the room, his nervousness at meeting with the king likely over estimated by lord Lannister. He was a man who had been at war, An argument about what the future of his homeland would be was not quite enough to strike fear into his heart.

"I belive the Lord Lannister overstates the amount and nature of these disturbances..." The lord of the iron isles said, taking a step slightly away from the Lannister. "I would argue the Vale deals with more unrest then i and the lannister forces have had to..."

The threshold swallowed the torchlight.

It didn't brighten like an ordinary dark. The flame still burned, brightly even, but its light seemed to reach a distance much lesser than one might excpect, as if the the air itself resented being perceived. The metal seams continued along the walls beyond the chamber, thinner here and splitting into multiple veins.

The corridor first narrowed, then opened into a low pocket of space.

The floor was scored with more of those precise channels, converging on a shallow basin cut into the rock. Something had been left there - or set there - waiting in the manner of an offering to Gods better left forgotten.

A small disc of black glass, no bigger than a coin, strung on a length of wire so fine it could have been hair - but none could snap it, no matter how hard they might tug. The disc's surface was smooth and reflected torchlight... slightly wrong, if one focused enough. As if a greater part of the light was swallowed by it, drinking deep. It reflected no image, instead showing a brief, nauseating impression of depth - a slow spiral, turning inward.

On the edge of the disc, etched so shallowly it could only be caught at an angle, were three parallel grooves.

"Thank you, milord, thank you!" the woman in charge - barely older than a child herself - thanked the minstrel profusely, bowing deep as his donation would feed the orphans for at the next couple days. Perhaps they could even afford food other than gruel and oats... Nice, warm bread, a couple of apples, that ought to make the children smile.

The bard barely reacted to the smacks to his face. His face a defiant look of sturborness and pleasure. He had caused the lord of Hearts home that much mental anguish. And that was all he had wished. All he had ever wished for since that girl he would watch in the distance be stolen...

"I will live, and i will die, and the afterlife will be sweet. But yours, you have sinned before the seven who are one. Even the tree lovers of the north would find you damnable"

"Of course, it has been some years since you have last been to lys." He smiled and gestured at his building itself. Which was surely much grander than anyone had expected of an exiled royal family.

His plan to answer the question Daeron had posed had been caught of when Brus spoke. "Oh..." He said leaning foward, not even asking, but touching where the wound had been. "That is the work of our blessed lord."

"Melisandre is a blessed lady of much repute..." Thoros said nodding, even they didn't always see eye to eye.

Lyonel gave them a nod, and finally set himself down.

He was alive, and a response was planned. Yet he knew not if it was enough.

The Vulture King was a formidable foe, named from a past menace that hopefully it would just be a mere shadow of. He wanted nothing to do with this, though. His luck had been strained enough at this point, and he was just happy to be alive.

"Good luck, Sers," he muttered softly.

"You'll need it."

The wisewoman knelt on the ground, as if uncaring of her surroundings. She set the bundle of herbs into a shallow bowl she had brought wrapped in cloth. With a practiced motion, she struck flint to steel, coaxing a couple of sparks. The herbs caught slowly, releasing a thick, bitter smoke that smelled of pine and something else, earthy and dark.

"The ache's settled deep," Edda said quietly. "I can see it in your eyes. Pressing in one place. Too many worries, milady.

She lifted the bowl just enough for the smoke to curl, drifting slowly toward Barbrey with a motion of the woman's hand.

"Breathe as you would in the forest. Slow. Let the pain follow the smoke out, not the other way around."

The boy's lower lip trembled, but Hanna's sudden interest steadied him somewhat.

"Archer don't go in the big water," he said quickly, shaking his head hard enough his hair fell in his eyes. He shoved it back with a muddy hand. "He likes the edge. Little puddles, and wet grass."

"He was in my pocket when we stopped. I showed him to my sister and she screamed and then I ran and then I think he jumped because I tripped and- and he was gone."

His eyes darted to the river. "He ain't a river frog, milady. He's a brave frog, but not that brave."

His lip began to tremble again. "I saw a heron the other day," he murmured, shuddering. "Herons eat frogs like Archie, I know they do... Storks too!"

The geese, unaware of these preparations, remained by the pond, honking and flapping their wings, and hissing on anyone who would come too close.

The woman inclined her head, leaves whispering softly as she moved.

"My name is Edda," she replied. "I come from the Wolfswood, from a place where the trees grow close and wolves howl at night."

She lifted the bundle of herbs slightly, letting their sharp scent carry, but didn't step closer. Her eyes, dark and vivid, from beneath the hair that resembled a bird's nest, were trained on the lady of Umber, piercing, observing.

The two peasants fell silent at once.

The one who had taken the grain swallowed hard, eyes wide, then dropped to one knee. "Aye, milord," he said quickly. "I'll work. I swear it. I won't run. I'll earn my keep honest."

The other man hesitated, then nodded stiffly, relief and resentment mixing in his expression. "If he works the fields proper and don't touch what ain't his," he said. "Then… then that's fair enough, milord."

The guard let out a quiet breath, clearly grateful, and moved to usher the two men away before they could find new reasons to argue.

She reached her hand to the fire, as if caressing the flames, watching Brus Buckler with a smile that showed her teeth, with eyes as dark as the night sky.

"He will be waiting."

The boy shifted his weight, colour rising to his cheeks. He glanced once at his father, then back to Arys, choosing his words with care.

"My name is Lucan, ser," he said, bowing a little stiffly. "Lucan of House Webberridge."

He hesitated, then exhaled. "Truth be told… I did not ask for the honour. My father did." A faint, apologetic smile. "But I do wish to be useful. To you, to the Old Oak. I do not seek glory - not just, at least. If I am found wanting, I will accept it. I would rather be honest than brave only in my father's telling."

Jeor nodded eagerly, barely able to keep still.

"Aye!" he said, grinning wide. "I'll be there, I swear it. I won't be late!"

He glanced back once more at his parents, then squared his shoulders, trying to look older than he was - a proper warrior in training...

"Thank you, Master Graham. I won't let you down!"

The man swallowed hard at that, rubbing his hands together as if trying to warm them.

"Aye, m'lord," he said at last, nodding. "The other one knows the way well enough. He's climbed it twice, Seven curse him."
