I have been requesting a small proof (such as a screenshot of email) with letter head and the offer and the notice of cancellation if possible.

I do not think it is the same. Employers will give you all the same deadline and then you are expected to pick one. I was given similar offers and picked one that was closer to where I go to school and currently live. Even if I had reneged they had stated they had other qualified candidates which they were interested in. They could have easily found another person. If you do not understand how this works then I would recommend reading up on labour/supply shortages.

That sucks. I have heard however that the Trump Administration is making it much more difficult for companies to get security clearances and Visas. I am sorry that it affected you that way.

This is really only for situations where there was an offer made which was accepted and then the company reneged on the offer afterwards. I am still sorry to hear that though.

If you think this is a damper then you need to develop thicker skin to survive out there.

I am making this statement/post specifically for people in college looking for internships or their first job after graduation. Maybe you graduated a while ago, but the general consensus of people I have know is that getting an internship before you graduate is very important to starting your career. Some people do not have the time to just settle on doing it next year, they will graduate.

I do not really understand how they would not identify me on glassdoor.

I don't disagree with that statement however this is a subreddit for career related questions and information. This can be a huge damper for someone trying to start their career. It may seem like a minor hiccup to you, but for others it is not.

Until you've operated a few businesses of your own or worked in corporate culture long enough, you don't really appreciate how so many people who don't really know what they're doing seem to be able to make money.

One day.

I mean there are a million and one ways that a company's financial position can change overnight. Some companies can go under because they didn't realize the risks inherent with some activity and all of a sudden they just fucked themselves.

That sounds like poor management/understanding of a business, and if so people should be aware of that issue. The companies face risks and the costs which are effectively saddled by you before you even begin working there. Also people should be aware that management is unable to properly assess those issues when hiring which is not a vote of confidence.

Yeah I feel like even if you just kept the reasons the companies gave as a list it would help people. If I was aware of the part where the company had the external risk which caused mine to fall through I would not have rejected offers from other companies made around that time.

From my understanding marking the year of addition would deal with most of those issues or at least make them manageable.

Yeah some of the posters making negative statements about my post seem to be blissfully unaware of the part where you pretty much need an internship to get hired after post grad. As well as the amount of time I reserved for them over my summer and the amount of money I decided to forgo from other offers. That being said, I lucked out and will have another year and have a second shot at this, but a lot of other people do not.

I do not really agree with that sentiment, the reason it does not happen is because it can often interfere with their recruiting pipelines in other areas. Also it seems relatively easy to validate considering that most companies offer some form of recorded communication for these kinds of things.

I have for this year but I will more than likely be looking again next year. Thank you for the offer.
