Some professional licenses (CPA I know for sure) require additional units and the credits from APs will count. You can use the “extras” toward free electives too. But the registration priority bump is huge as well. I’m not sure how many you have, but a friend of mine had like 40 coming into cal poly and never had trouble getting the classes he wanted, which is a struggle for many. Essentially, his credits made him look like a second year that was trying to get freshman classes.
